Primary 1

Primary 1 have been learning about 2d shape this week.

We made shapes using lollipop sticks, created our own street with 2d shape houses and practised drawing 2d shapes with chalks during our outdoor learning.

Primary 6 Weekly Update

There is now a home learning grid based upon on our class novel ‘Wonder’ by R.J. Palacio on our Primary 6 Microsoft Teams page. The children have been shown the grid and we discussed the activities.

This week we continued learning about significant individuals through Black History month. We explored the impact that Martin Luther King Jr had on the past and present day. We created our own dreams like he did which led into a piece of artwork from one of his iconic speeches.

Primary 3/2

We have had a very busy week in Primary 3/2, we started off our week learning about symmetry and all the different objects that have lines of symmetry in them. We then created our own symmetrical lady birds by finger painting one side then folding them in half to create the symmetrical pattern on the opposite side.

On Tuesday morning we tuned into the Authors Live event with Nadia Shireen. We listened to some excerpts from her book and then got the opportunity to draw along with her as she showed us how to draw some of the main characters from her book.

Our Fairytale focus this week has been The Three Little Pigs. On Friday we were split into three groups; paper, straw and bricks we then had to use those materials to create a house just like in the fairy tale.

Miss Mcgregor was very impressed with our creativity! Super job P3/2 🙂

Primary 1

Primary 1 have been helping Granny Scott with another problem this week. Her street has litter everywhere, so we made posters that she can put up around the village to encourage people to put any rubbish in the bin.
In class, we talked about how to be a good friend in school and had to complete a challenge with a partner, sorting pictures into friendly and unfriendly behaviour.

Primary 1 blog

Granny Scott emailed the school office to ask Primary 1 for their help. Granny wants to move to Pumpherston and asked us to design a house for her. We designed our house on paper first. The house had to have a roof and chimney, front door and 4 windows. We sent Granny our designs, then during our outdoor learning made our own house designs using construction.

Primary 2/1

Hello Parents/Carers!

Primary 2/1 will soon receive home learning bags containing letter sounds and a common word wall. Once Seesaw is up and running for all children, phonics home learning will be posted regularly.

The Sway below gives you information about phonics home learning and will go over some of the techniques that we use in school. If you have any questions or think of other ways that we can support you with learning at home, please let us know.

Miss McLaughlin 🙂
