Primary 3/2 update

Primary 3/2 have been working hard since the start of term 2 in October. Here are some pictures of our new corridor displays showing off all our hard work. We have started our rainforest topic and have been exploring where rainforests are in the world as well as learning about the 3 main climate zones.

In literacy our focus has been on narrative writing and we have written some fantastic stories.
We have also been learning about Diwali the Hindu festival of light and have created our own Rangoli patterns.

In maths we have started to explore time and have been enjoying some active learning to help us with this tricky concept!

Primary 3/2

We have had a very busy week in Primary 3/2, we started off our week learning about symmetry and all the different objects that have lines of symmetry in them. We then created our own symmetrical lady birds by finger painting one side then folding them in half to create the symmetrical pattern on the opposite side.

On Tuesday morning we tuned into the Authors Live event with Nadia Shireen. We listened to some excerpts from her book and then got the opportunity to draw along with her as she showed us how to draw some of the main characters from her book.

Our Fairytale focus this week has been The Three Little Pigs. On Friday we were split into three groups; paper, straw and bricks we then had to use those materials to create a house just like in the fairy tale.

Miss Mcgregor was very impressed with our creativity! Super job P3/2 🙂

Primary 3/2

In Primary 3/2 we have been learning about our rights. We completed a needs and wants activity which helped us to understand the things we need to survive. This then linked into our understanding about the rights of the child. We worked together to pick the rights we felt best suited our class and then displayed them as part of our class charter. Everyone created a beautiful butterfly to show how we are all unique.

Primary 4

Last week in primary 4 we were learning about symmetry. We used our knowledge of symmetry to complete these fantastic self portraits. Well done primary 4 you’ve made me a very proud teacher, Miss McGregor 🙂

P4 Outdoor Learning

In primary 4 we have been looking at dictionary skills and how to find information in a dictionary. We started by thinking about how to find, sort and order information alphabetically. We went outside and ordered ourselves by first name and second name. We were then all given a different animal and we had to work together to order ourselves alphabetically by animal name.

Primary 4

Last week in Primary 4 we were using our research skills to find out about some famous explorers. We used books and the internet to complete a fact file.  We then used these to create a poster about our chosen explorer. Here is an example of some of our work.
