Author Masterclass – Dr Seuss

On Thursday, World Book Day (and Dr Seuss’ birthday), Miss McLaughlin ran a ‘Cat in the Hat’-themed masterclass.

We listened to the story of ‘The Cat in the Hat’ and discussed rhythm/rhyme.

We created our own ‘Cat in the Hat’ artwork and gave the Cat new looks! Miss McLaughlin then gave us a design challenge where we had to plan and create a new hat for the Cat. We used lots of different crafting materials for our creations. #effectivecontributors

Primary 3/2

This week, Primary 3/2 took part in the Scottish Book Trust’s ‘Authors Live’ event, which featured author Rachel Bright.

We listened to one of her stories, ‘The Koala who Could’ and completed tasks linked to it. We tried to predict what Kevin the Koala was thinking at different points in the story and designed a new home for him. Have a look at some of our work below:

We then participated in the live event where Rachel Bright answered children’s questions, read us her new story ‘Gecko and the Echo’ and illustrator Jim Field taught us how to draw Goldie the Gecko. #effectivecontributors

Check in with us after the holidays to see what we have been learning. Have a good, well-deserved break!

Primary 3/2

The photographs below show Primary 3/2’s class charter. We looked at children’s rights which affect us at school and linked them to our values of Nurturing, Ambitious and Respectful. We then thought about how our adults or ‘duty bearers’ (Miss McLaughlin & Mrs O’ Neil) could help make sure these rights are met at school. See what we came up with! #effectivecontributors

Check in with us soon to see what else we have been learning!
