P6 This Week- 12.6.20

Some wonderful learning going on again this week by P6! Lots of well-structured explanation texts about the Wish Granter were submitted, showing attention to the success criteria. Progress was made with learning about scale and data handling, with lots of care being shown to be accurate. We came to the end of our novel; Millions and from the reviews and Sways that have been submitted, it was a hit with P6.

Thank you to the people who have shared their Time Capsule content. Please remember to do this before the end of the term.

Virtual Sport’s day and Fitness Fortnight starts on Monday!

See all the information in our class TEAM.

P6 This week 5.6.20

Super engagement in coding using our micro:bits from DigitalXtra this week from P6! We have interpreted data from line graphs and learned more about money and wages. We created succinct summaries about the chapters we read from Millions- rising to the challenge of writing them in 5 or fewer sentences. Great job on this everyone! We also used details to re-create a scene from the novel. Arran made a great wee pop-up scene and Conlan put lots of detail into his sketch of the attic where Damian was hiding.

Some creative videos and sways were made to demonstrate learning about extreme flooding, with some learners becoming weather forecasters with style! Keep up the creativity P6; you are amazing.

P6 This week (29.5.20)

Super letter writing skills this week from our P6’s as well as acrostic poems about keyworkers. We have finished our learning about money, time and algebra. We are also coming to the climax of our novel ‘Millions’ and are desperate to find out what happens! The tension created in the last couple of chapters that  we read was intense.

In learning about our topic- natural disasters, we discovered the impact flooding can have on the environment and people.

We received our microbits from our teachers this week and are looking forward to getting coding with them.

P6 This week 18.5.20

P6 have continued to complete activities with enthusiasm for learning this week! Some wonderful images have been created using dye from flower petals. Fabulous photographs have been taken of the river and burns around the village. Progress has been made with learning about time, money and algebra and we continue to learn about the characters and developing plot in our class novel; Millions.

We have come to the end of our learning about Ramadan with many super pieces of work being submitted!

Well done to Milly, who was our class winner in the Sumdog competition! She answered more than 1000 questions. Well done also goes to Daniel and Robert, who answered almost as many questions and got most of them correct! All 3, earned extra coins.

Play Park Reminder

A reminder that our public parks can be used for exercise as long as the national government rules on social distancing are adhered to. Please avoid, where possible, touching potentially contaminated surfaces in public parks including play equipment, outdoor gym equipment, park furniture, handrails, gates, and signage etc. Children’s play areas, ball courts, skate parks, and outdoor gyms remain closed until further notice. Please do not use them, even if no-one else is present.

It’s also important that those exercising should, at all times, continue to do so alone or with members of their household.

Any resident witnessing an issue that causes a public safety concern regarding people ignoring the national government rules on social distancing, can report such incidences to the police on 101.’

P6 This Week 11.5.20

We have been sharing our learning this morning and enjoyed a quiz created by Conlan- thank you!

Most of us successfully completed learning about time and function machines for maths. Many enjoyed learning about the benefits of volcanoes, creating super comic strips, sways, powerpoints and animations to share the learning. Below is Alina’s fabulous example.

Many stones have been painted and riddles solved!

Enjoy your holiday on Monday!

P6 This Week (8.5.20)

P6 had an active week with lots going for walks and cycles with families. Many have been busy creating sundials linked to their learning about Ramadan.

Some people enjoyed a webinar with STEM ambassadors; Pam Anderson and Jeremy Curtis, where they learned about their careers and the skills needed for a variety of jobs in the space industry. For those who missed it, the video will be available on Youtube shortly.

In reading, most people are enjoying Millions by Frank Cotrell-Boyce and are keen to find out if the boys manage to spend all the money in time.

Thanks to everyone who made it along  to the TEAMs Friday Sharing chat- it was great to hear from you all!
