Welcome back! We hope you had a relaxing holiday. We are very lucky as this week we have been joined by Miss Fraser. Miss Fraser will be with us for five weeks. This week we have been revising the sounds already learned and in particular the sounds u and b. In writing, we wrote about our family. Our target was copying an adult’s writing from a white board. In Maths, we have been investigating shapes. We identified 2D shapes and 3D shapes. “2D shape is a flat shape.”says Isaac. “3D shapes are not flat.” says Ayden. Some of us went on a shape walk around the school. When we found a shape we took a photo of it. We also sorted shapes as to whether they had round sides or straight sides. In music we were playing instruments along to the story of We’re Going on a Bear Hunt. We used instruments to make the sounds of the grass, water, mud, wind and forest. In art, we created our own planet by printing with paint and bubble wrap. We also coloured in a space rocket. Pictures of our planets to follow when they are finished.
Here are some of the children’s reflections:
Ayden: “I enjoyed revising our sounds.”
Euan: ” I also enjoyed revising our sounds.”
Ziva: ” I liked practising the sounds already learned.”
Leighton: ” I enjoyed making my planet in art.”
Leo: ” I found it tricky when copying my sentence about my family.”
Ch: ” I found number talks tricky.”
Isaac: ” I found tricky the numbers in our dot patterns this week.”
