Transition Task – Week 2

Week 2 Transition Task – ‘It’s A Seashell Day’

This week we would like you to watch and listen to the story ‘It’s a Seashell Day’ by Diane Ochiltree with your child.  The story and learning activities suggested are an ideal way to further develop your child’s number sense and the counting principles. This learning will be revisited when your child starts Primary 1.  Please follow the link below to access the story ‘It’s a Seashell Day’.  We hope you enjoy it 🐚

We hope you and your child enjoy this weeks story 🙂 Maybe you can continue to find ways to count objects in your house and/or garden or maybe you can spot numbers and collections of objects in your environment or out on your walks.

P2-3 Reading Event

We are looking forward to welcoming our parents/carers to our Primary 2 & 3 Reading Event on Thursday 21st November at 9.00am. Please access the hall via the doors from the quad playground. After a short presentation in the hall with Mrs Donnelly, parents/carers will join their child in their classroom to participate with some literacy activities. Primary 2-3 children will be gifted with their ‘Read, Write and Count Bag’ on Thursday also.  We hope they enjoy reading the stories  and playing the games at home.

Outdoor Learning in Primary 2

In Primary 2M and 2W we have been learning how to subtract. We have been using lots of different methods to help us do this. Yesterday we decided to take our subtraction outdoors and see how we could use the environment to help us show our learning. We had lots of fun using our number skills.

It was a chilly morning so we had to make sure we were wrapped up. We even managed to use natural materials and the weather to help us create our own subtraction sums!

This week in P3/2C

It has been a very busy few weeks in P3/2C. We have been learning lots about our new topic Food and Farming. We even paired up with a farm in Stafford shire and had a Skype chat with Katie the farmer where she answered our questions and showed us around the farm.  She even sent us the winning rosettes that her Border Leicester sheep won.

It is also maths week this week and we have been taking part in many different activities to support our addition skills. What a fab and very busy week.
