This week in P4

What a very busy first week back after the Easter holidays! It was great to see everyone back this week. We dived right into our learning and looked at column subtraction which we really enjoyed. We worked on speech bubbles to create our own comic strips, worked on homophones, angles and French amongst other things.

This week the children really enjoyed learning through Learner Agency where they are able to take more ownership of how they learn. We had a go at deciding how we wanted to represent our learning in Health and Wellbeing this week. Some children went a very creative, artistic way and others preferred to create something more structured. A fabulous job P4!

This week in P4!

It has a great and very busy week in P4!

We have concentrated on Time in Maths this week and played lots of games. We have written a discussion text and made sure we argued our points for and against the issue with amazing results. We have continued to work on our community work as well and discussed the wants and needs that people would have and discussed the rights and responsibilities we have.

Everyone has worked so hard this week, well done!

This week in P4!

Wow, it has been great to have everyone back in class this week and it has been a busy one!

We have been working on writing descriptions, understanding and clarifying words in a text and working on homophones in literacy. In maths, we have worked on column addition, multiplication and time this week as well. We have continued to look at health and wellbeing and our topic looking at ‘Our Community’ where we looked at ‘wants and needs’. We had a great discussion about ‘wants and needs’.

It has been great to get back to our class and we have really enjoyed Red Nose Day today and being dressed up!

P4/3 Remote Learning

This week we have been doing lots of learning.

In Literacy we have been working on our spelling using ‘th’, we created questions about a text titled ‘Great women who made history’.   We watched an author’s live with Andy Stanton and used his character Mr Gum to create ideas for our own story.  We then used a different story starter to write our own imaginary story.

In Numeracy continuing our work on 2D & 3D shapes and their properties.  We then worked on trying to tile different shapes and looked at symmetry.

In Health this week we looked at safety.  We thought about different ways to keep ourselves safe in our houses, outdoors and in our community.

We also started our new topic of The Celts. We researched when and where they lived and what their houses looked like.

P2A Remote Learning

You have been working so hard on your learning at home Primary 2A! I have been so impressed with your hard work on Seesaw and in class this week. In Literacy, we have been learning to read and write soft g words. You all worked so hard to write a fantastic description of a family member this week. I saw lots of brilliant connectives which was our Success Criteria challenge. Next week we are going to begin writing an imaginative story.

In Numeracy we have been learning to make equal groups. You all know this means you were dividing and this week, we have been learning to divide by 2. You used concrete materials at home to practise sharing equally and I was impressed with how hard you all worked on this task. We have also continued with our number talks too.

I am glad so many of you asked for more French target tasks and you all put in so much effort to your French learning this week. I have loved seeing everyone being so creative in your learning. Here are some examples of your amazing work on Seesaw.

Alex worked really hard to build a house for the Three Little Pigs. This was Mrs Beattie’s STEM challenge this week. Super effort Alex!

Isla used her nail varnish collection to spell soft g words. I love her creativity and she has a very impresive collection. Super spelling Isla:)

Harry read this book himself at home this week. I am very proud that you were practising your reading Harry and choosing to read a book for enjoyment:)

Jaysiel worked hard to sequence numbers from smallest to largest in Numeracy. This was a great challenge and you could order all the numbers in the correct order. Well done:)

Have a great weekend everyone:)

P4/3 Remote Learning

We have been learning lots over the past fortnight.

In Literacy we have written descriptions, imaginary stories and worked on our reading comprehension in lots of different ways.

In Numeracy we have been practicing our hardest tables and taking part in Sumdog challenges.  In Maths we have been learning about 2D & 3D shapes, developing our knowledge of Time and working on Fractions.

In Health we have looked at healthy foods and created an Eatwell Plate, thought about what happens to our body when we exercise, created goals for this year and thought about our achievements and how we feel when we achieve something new.

We have also told stories, drawn turtles, learned about animal habitats and found out about snowflakes.

Wow what a busy fortnight we have had!

Primary 2A Phonics

Good afternoon everyone,

Please see below for our new sounds this week. We are learning “igh” and  “y” and some pupils are also continuing to practise CVC words. Please support your child to read and write the words in their list. One of the activities the children have enjoyed the most in class is going on a word hunt, with their words written on small pieces of paper for them to find and read.

Thank you for your continued support.
