P2B Weekly Wall of Work

Good afternoon everyone,

I would like to say how impressed I have been with everyone’s work this week. You have all worked your socks off and shown a lot of resilience. I am very proud of you all and the hard work that you have been putting in. Thank you again to all parents/carers who have supported the remote learning this week, your support does not go unnoticed.

Here is some of our fabulous work from this week of remote learning:

This week in literacy we have been learning a new sound – magic e with an a.

This week we were learning all about Scotland and it’s history and playing fun games.

This week in numeracy we have been learning about making equal groups of 3 and dividing by 3.

We did lots of other fun activities this week but these were our stand out  pieces of work.

Well done everyone! Have a lovely weekend.

P3 Remote and Classroom Learning

We are so proud of all of the amazing work that P3 have produced this week. We have been bowled over by the continued enthusiasm for online learning and the incredible work happening at home and inside the classroom.

This week, we have:

  • Counted groups of 5s and 10s to help us with our times tables.
  • Practised our handwriting and started to move towards joining our letters up.
  • Written some incredible creative stories about all sorts of things.
  • Read the next chapter of Fantastic Mr Fox and summarised it in our own words.
  • Created beautiful artworks and learned all about the northern lights.
  • Stayed active with Mr Millar’s Active Challenge!
  • Practised our ceilidh dancing at home and produced some amazing videos.
  • Made some brilliant sculptures out of all sorts of different materials.
  • Found Scotland on the map and compared it to other countries that we could see.

We want to say a massive thank you to both young people and their families for making all of this amazing learning possible. We are looking forward to the activities we have planned next week already!

P4/3 Remote Learning

This week we have been doing lots of learning.

In Literacy we have been working on our spelling using ‘th’, we created questions about a text titled ‘Great women who made history’.   We watched an author’s live with Andy Stanton and used his character Mr Gum to create ideas for our own story.  We then used a different story starter to write our own imaginary story.

In Numeracy continuing our work on 2D & 3D shapes and their properties.  We then worked on trying to tile different shapes and looked at symmetry.

In Health this week we looked at safety.  We thought about different ways to keep ourselves safe in our houses, outdoors and in our community.

We also started our new topic of The Celts. We researched when and where they lived and what their houses looked like.

This week in P4

This week in P4 we have been learning a lot! In Literacy we have worked on Spelling, writing imaginary stories, working on questioning through reciprocal reading and creating ideas for a new story through Author’s Live. In Maths, we have been focusing on the properties of 2D and 3D shape, tiling and symmetry. We have focused on safety in our health tasks this week and we have begun learning about our new topic of The Celts. We have started our research on this and it is exciting what we are finding out!

Our daily live calls have been great and we even took part in a scavenger hunt for household items!

We are looking forward to what next week brings in the classroom and through remote learning! I am so proud of all of you!

Learning in P1

Hello everyone.

The boys and girls have been very busy this week.  We’ve been learning about time.  We have been ordering the months of the year, the days of the week and have been learning to tell the time ‘o’clock’ on our analogue clocks.

Our new sound this week was ‘wh’ and we’ve been learning to read cvc words.

We’ve been using our listening skills to listen to stories and have also been discussing what foods are healthy and unhealthy.

We hope you have a great weekend!

P7 and P7/6 Remote and Classroom Learning

Can we start by saying how impressed  we have been with both P7 and P7/6 during their Remote and Classroom Learning. Really engaging with every task and demonstrating great perseverance and resilience. We are very proud of your efforts. Last week we covered a wide range of outcomes and activities including

  • What features and organisation should be used to create an effective procedure.
  • How to find the Perimeter of a shape and linking these skills to using Maths in an everyday context.
  • A variety of Science experiments which ranged from designing your own catapult to trying to make cheese!
  • Scottish Tourism Task including producing a Powerpoint to attract tourists to Scotland and creating an exposition to encourage a family member to visit.
  • Staying with our Scottish theme we used Oor Wullie as a springboard for a variety of Literacy activities.
  • Utilising our ICT skills to research the effects Smoking can have on the body.

It was also really impressive to see how so many of the class linked their science tasks to the work we have been doing on procedures when completing their experiment. Also using features of an exposition when creating the persuasive text in their Social Subjects activities. It is great to see the children using their learning across all curricular areas. Keep up the hard work, you have been brilliant.
