On Wednesday morning we were entertained with a silent disco. We danced and sang along in the playground. It was great fun!
Primary 1
Welcome back Primary 1! It was lovely to see you back and hear all about your holidays.
We’ve had a busy start to Term 4. On Wednesday we all took part in a ‘Silent Disco’. It was great fun listening and dancing to the music.
On Friday we learned about Earth Day in our Assembly and then went outside for word hunt. We had to find pictures and then sound out and write the words. Everyone had fun and worked well as a team.
Silent Disco P6A
P6A had an early wake-up call on Thursday morning when we took part in a silent disco. Although it was a chilly morning, we soon warmed up as we boogied our way around the park, singing and dancing to some very upbeat tunes! Although some of us drew the line at Gangnam Style, we all joined in enthusiastically with a resounding rendition of YMCA as we made our way back to the playground. There were some very bemused East Calder residents (including dogs!) but we all agreed it was a fantastic way to start the day! Thank you to Charlotte from Sustrans for facilitating the disco.
P5/4 fun on the last week!

Another MOTM in p4
Another superstar footballer in p4! This time Man Of The Match was awarded for great tackling and passing. Well done. ⭐️
Primary 1 & Buddies
Primary 1 had a great time in our new library with their Buddies. This week our job was to try and recognise tricky words in the books being read together.
P3 Art
We have been learning about Artists called Miro and Mondrian. We talked about the shapes they made and colours they used. We then created our own picture in their style. Some of us even tried to draw animals using the same idea. We then talked about what we thought about their artwork. Most of us preferred Miro, especially if we were creating our own, as his lines are wiggly so easier to draw than Mondrian’s straight lines. We then took our learning outdoors and created chalk drawings in their styles.
Sky Academy P7A
We had a wonderful time at the Sky Academy Studios today. The pupils worked in four studio teams using their media literacy skills to research facts, which they then brought to life in a fascinating bespoke TV report.
The pupils had allocated roles including a: producer, director, scriptwriter, camera operator, presenter/reporter, expert, eyewitness and editor.
They had to read through the studio briefs and create a teleprompter script for the presenters. The most impressive part was that the pupils did this with very little help from the experts; showcasing their pupil agency, creativity and teamwork skills.
Well done P7A, what a fantastic learning experience we had!

Dancing Superstars! P7B
Congratulations to these 3 dancing stars! On February 27th the girls competed in a competition in Glasgow. They came a very respectable 4th place and considering they were one of the youngest teams in the Youth category we all think this is an amazing achievement. I have watched their Cheer video and they really did themselves proud. Well done ladies!
