Nursery – Welcome!

WELCOME

We would like to warmly welcome our new families and children and our returning children and families to our new term. We are passionate about supporting your child’s interests and learning through play and developing our parent/carers partnerships to ensure your child has a happy and fulfilling experience at early years.  We take pride in our welcoming, nurturing environment and our staff will do their upmost to ensure your child’s experience of settling in is a positive one.   Communication is very important to us and we encourage you to share any information/changes about your child or home that could help us in supporting your child further.

We have new personal plan packs for returning families to complete, these will replace the previous all about me documents that you completed when your child started nursery.  The plans will help us to update your child’s details and continue to provide the best care and support for them.  These are available beside the sign in/out sheets, please collect a pack and return to us as soon as you possibly can.

SIGN IN/OUT SHEETS

We appreciate how busy our reception area can be and how much of a rush mornings are for our families but can you please ensure you sign your child in (remembering to mention anybody different who may be picking them up) and sign them out again at the end of the day.  This register is important for us to know our number of children in the nursery and crucial if we have an emergency evacuation.  Many thanks for your support with this.

P7 Improving gender balance and equalities

Today P7 welcomed Fiona Shaw  who is a Development Officer for Education Scotland. Her role is to work with schools to ensure everyone has equality of opportunity, particularly with careers and subject choice. We engaged with a variety of tasks which raised our awareness of stereotypes . There was a lot of thought provoking conversations which really made us all think about unconscious bias. Many thanks to Fiona for joining us.

Litter Pick

Yesterday, we did a litter pick around Mansfield Park. We wanted to do this because we have seen  East Calder and how much plastic and litter there is, so we wanted to help we also wanted people to see us and think that they should probably stop dropping litter if these primary school children are picking it up . 13 children and their parents/carers joined in to help us clear East Calder. We started small at Mansfield Park and we collected lots of litter mostly,  glass, crisp packets, straws and lots more.  If you joined in thank you for helping us with doing this picking lots of litter up.
