P4/3M Book Week

P4/3M had a wonderful time during book week. We had lots of visitors including authors, Book Bug and  P3 families for the read, write, count event.

We created our own mini books and read them to the class. We were also challenged to design our classroom door and voted for a Harry Potter theme.

NURSERY BOOK WEEK

Thank you so much to the parents who kindly came into Nursery to read to the children.  The children really enjoyed having someone different read to them during Book Week.  We really appreciate the time you gave up to do this.

NURSERY – Parent Fundraising Group

Our first Parent Fundraising Groups will be held next week on

Tuesday 3rd December – 2.30pm

&

Wednesday 4th December – 9.50am

Please meet in the Nursery Reception area and Mrs Laing or Mrs Rafferty will take you to the Parents Room in the school.  Refreshments will be available.

Many thanks for your support with this.  Hopefully with your support we will pull off our Christmas stall at the School Fair on the 14th December and raise lots of money to improve the Nursery resources therefore benefiting your child(ren).

Primary 2 Reminder

Parents/Carers,

Could we please remind you of the importance of sending your child’s reading book and homework diary every day. This allows us to do additional tasks with your child to further improve their learning and keep you updated with their progress. Tricky words should also be brought in each week.

Thank you for all your support!

Book Week in P2M

We have had a very busy and exciting book week! One of the highlights was when we shared our learning with our families and friends on Thursday. We also really appreciate all the feedback from parents and carers which is on display in our cloakroom. Another highlight was decorating our door to celebrate “George’s Marvellous Medicine” by one of our favourite authors, Roald Dahl.

We are very proud of all our hard work. All Miss Marra did was print the letters and she helped us put all our work on the door. We did all the other work ourselves. A huge thank you to our two super stars Esmae and Cooper for drawing George and Grandma. Thank you also to Farah for helping with colouring Grandma. We have our fingers crossed that our hard work pays off when the winning door is announced on Monday. However, as Carson so wisely stated, “it is all about having fun and trying our best” and we definitely did. Well done Primary 2M!

Book Week P3/2C

We have had a very exciting and busy week in P3/2C. We had an author visit on Monday afternoon from ‘Badger the Mystical Mutt’ which was great fun.  We were creating our own bookmarks and masks based on our favourite book characters. We then had our family and friends in to share some reading with us on Thursday which was great. We also watched an Author’s live broadcast based on The Gruffalo in Scots and Gaelic.  So so busy!

P2W Book Week

This week we took part in Book Week Scotland 2019. We were set many challenges to try and complete during our literacy time.

P2W chose to recreate the front cover of one of our favourite books – Charlie and The Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl. We worked so hard creating this that it took us one whole week! We are very proud of all the hard work, effort and teamwork that has went into our amazing door creation.

We have all our fingers and toes crossed in the hope that we win the competition on Monday!

Tom Gates and P7S

P7 chose to recreate the front cover of the novel – Tom Gates Extra Special Treats(not) on our classroom door. We worked hard on this during the week but didn’t get it finished. During Fridays Assembly, Miss Morrison let some P7s stay back and try to finish our door, for book week!

Kaimee, Mollie, Ryan H, Logan, Alana, Harry and Erin all tried their hardest to try complete our door. They got a massive chunk completed. We only had a few more things to do after break! All of our book week doors will be judged on Monday.

Book Week P5/4C

Primary 5/4C took part in the BBC Authors Live event today in celebration of the 20th anniversary of The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson. Author James Robertson was the person responsible for translating this well-loved book into Scots language, and we enjoyed hearing him read the story and listening out for familiar Scots words. Afterwards, we labelled a picture of The Gruffalo and drew our own wee moose, labelling them in Scots. We all enjoyed sharing our favourite Scots words; among the most popular in P5/4 were MINGIN, WHEESHT and , of course, BAHOOKIE!
