Here are a few action shots from the Girls P6 & P7 Football Festival. We had a great opportunity to learn some new skills, meet some famous female footballers and show how talented we are. What an amazing, inspirational day we all had at Livingstone football stadium.
Yesterday, Primary 5J learnt about Burke and Hare and their role in the history of Edinburgh. We looked at a variety of texts to learn about them and discovered they were murderers who sold the cadavers they had to make money. We then created questions to ask them and role played their responses.
We have been learning to use different strategies to develop our recall and accuracy of our times tables. We take part in lots of different activities to help us speed up. We all work on different times tables and sometimes link them to division facts too.
P4-7 pupils from Community & Charity Hub will be visiting East Calder Bowling Club on Friday 17th May at 9.30-10.30. They will get the chance to learn about bowling and have a go. Adults have already been arranged for visit.
Please ensure they have flat shoes with no spikes or heels so that they can walk on the lawn.
Both Primary 4 classes will be visiting East Calder Library on Thursday 16th May. The children will have the chance to swap the library books they have been reading. Adult helpers have already been arranged.

Inspired by our class novel ‘The Iron Man’ by Ted Hughes, we have two super Lego models.
One of our homework tasks was to draw a musical instrument and label how it works. Fantastic picture!

We have started to research the main political parties in the U.K. and Scotland, discussing Scotland’s devolved powers and researching the features of democracy.
Watch out for some of our manifestos, flyers, speeches and persuasive language; we will be holding our own P6A elections! After watching some party political broadcasts, we are going to make our own! We formed and named the following parties:
The Scottish Considerate Party; The Scottish Youth Party (SYP); Scottish Wildlife Party (SWP); Scottish Violet Party (SVP); Save the Ocean Party (STO).
The parties are yet to appoint leaders, stay tuned for the announcement of our election date, party policies and voting papers. Make your vote count!
Well done to P5C for their great efforts in this morning’s Rainforest Assembly. It’s a very busy time in school at the moment, so everyone did really well to practise their lines and remember what they should be doing and when. A huge ‘Thank You’ also to Mrs McBirnie for her amazing efforts – she certainly made you all look fabulous! Well done, P5C.
