Amazing Learning in Primary 2A

Wow! What an amazing week of learning we have had. Well done for all your hard work this week as always. I am so proud of all your efforts and your positive attitude towards your learning. This week, we have been learning to read and write magic e words with an i and we have also been working hard on Reading Comprehension. In Writing, we have been learning to write the midde of a story, following on from our introductions from last wek. Your stories are looking fantastic so far! I can’t wait to read your endings. In Numeracy, we have been working hard in number talks and we have been learning about fractions this week. You found some great examples of halves and quarters at home.

Here are a few examples of your wonderful work.

Jaysiel wrote a fantastic middle to her imaginative story with capital letters, finger spaces and full stops. She also used connectives and wrote great descriptions. Well done Jaysiel:)

Max worked hard to calculate the missing addends in Numeracy this week. He did a great job counting on to work out the answers. Well done for working hard on this Max and for creating some of your own missing addend problems.

Ollie worked hard on this magic e roll, write and read task. You worked hard Ollie and you managed to write and read some new magic e words too. Well done!

This is Evie’s creative approach to this week’s STEM challenge. It has been amazing seeing everyone working so hard to be creative with these challenges every week. This week, we had to build a bridge using construction or any other materials at home. Well done for thinking outside the box Evie! It looks like your bridge was definitely strong enough for Nala to stand on. Fantastic work!

Keep up your hard work everyone. Have a lovely weekend and I will see you all on Monday:)

We have worked on Numeracy by extending our knowledge of family sums and column addition.  Some of us moved on to multiplication.

In Health this week we we learning about food choices and how should respect the opinions of others and their choices even if they differ from ours.

This week we have been extending our know ledge of the Celts by researching their jobs, food, clothes and jewellery.  Here are some pictures we drew of their jewellery.

P2/1 Remote and Classroom Learning

Well done to all of Primary 2/1 for such hard work this week.  I enjoy seeing the one or two of you in class each week and all the rest of you on Seesaw.  Thank you for all of your photos and videos as well as your hard work – these give me so much joy to see.

Primary 1 have been working hard in learning to tell the time.  We started with ordering days of the week then months of the year before learning about the analogue clock and the o’clock hours.  We had fun making our own clocks with paper plates in class and digitally on Seesaw.  We have also been learning a new sound ‘wh’ and been doing lots of activities to consolidate our learning in this.  We enjoyed our Listening and Talking activities around different stories; Grumpy Cat and The Listening Walk.

Primary 2 have been working very hard in reading, writing and Numeracy.  We have been learning the magic e sound and been using our spelling words and activities to learn this more.  There have been some fantastic photos of spelling work where no pencils or papers were used at all!  In writing we learned about how to write a story and that there is a beginning, middle and end. This week we started our beginning and we introduced our characters and set the scene.  In numeracy we challenged ourselves and started to learn the three times tables and we used objects from home to show how we can separate them into three equal groups.

Keep up the great work, Primary 2/1.

P4/3 Remote Learning

This week we have been doing lots of learning.

In Literacy we have been working on our spelling using ‘th’, we created questions about a text titled ‘Great women who made history’.   We watched an author’s live with Andy Stanton and used his character Mr Gum to create ideas for our own story.  We then used a different story starter to write our own imaginary story.

In Numeracy continuing our work on 2D & 3D shapes and their properties.  We then worked on trying to tile different shapes and looked at symmetry.

In Health this week we looked at safety.  We thought about different ways to keep ourselves safe in our houses, outdoors and in our community.

We also started our new topic of The Celts. We researched when and where they lived and what their houses looked like.

Well done Primary 2/1 on a super effort on Seesaw and in the classroom.  Primary 1s, in literacy, we have been learning the sh, ch and th sounds and you’ve done a fantastic job on this.  In numeracy you’ve been learning about measure and ordering from shortest to longest and measuring using cubes.  Primary 2s, in literacy, you’ve been learning the soft ‘g’ sound and also working on your reading comprehension skill of inference.  In numeracy, you’ve been working on separating objects into equal parts which is an introduction to division.  In French we were learning about parts of the body and in class we managed to learn ‘Head, shoulders, knees and toes’ in French.

Keep up the great work everyone.  We’re really proud of you.  Mrs Meikle.
