P6 Leading their own Learning

This week we have continued to increase opportunities for members of the class to lead their own learning and contribute to school improvement. We already involve pupils more in curriculum design by encouraging them to use Pupil Voice when choosing an IDL concept and by offering the choice in what format they display many elements of their work.
We empowered the class to participate in their own learning and sharing particular skillsets with their peers. We had amazing lessons on QR codes, Adobe, Tamil and Chess! As you can see a wide range of subject matter and we still have Illustration, Spanish and Swedish to come. Fantastic P6, so proud of the confidence, audience awareness and knowledge you shared.

Primary 4A Gerbils

Primary 4A have been preparing for the arrival of our class gerbils.

We have been doing research in class and using our notes to create Power Points about caring for gerbils. We have been thinking about names for our 2 new gerbils and after creating a list of our favourites we used Microsoft forms to vote for our winning names.

Here are our responses:

The winning names were Salt and Pepper.  We cannot wait to meet Salt and Pepper when they come to school on Tuesday after the long weekend.

Whole School ‘Nativity Assembly’

This morning we held our usual virtual Assembly on TEAMS, however today’s assembly was very different as it was our first Nativity Assembly which was led by the pupils of East Calder Primary School. The Christmas Story was told by pupils from every class and we think that our P1-7 pupils did a fantastic job! You all learned your parts so well and spoke clearly and confidently – great job everyone!!!
