P1 News
Thank you to all who donated to our Red Nose Day collection. We looked amazing all dressed up in our PJ’s.
This week in literacy, we have been practising our sh, ch, th and wh sounds. We have also enjoyed new stories and learned four more Word Boost words to extend our vocabulary. We’re getting very quick at spotting the words in our everyday speech and in other stories too!
We loved meeting our P7 buddies this week in our brand new library and shared lots of interesting books and texts.
We have been practising telling the time to the half hour and also working with numbers to 20. Meanwhile, in science, we had lots of fun finding out about forces when experimenting with cars and ramps.

In class we were busy preparing for the Fayre at Tots Spot on Saturday. We have practised our measuring to make reindeer food to sell at the fayre.
P1 Book Week
We’ve had lots of fun this week during Book Week. We read about Arlo , the lion who couldn’t sleep, and made our own Arlos with a song that helps us to sleep too. We looked at a non-fiction book and made our own woodland animals book for our class library. The book ‘Inch and Grub’ explored friendships and showed us what was important. We thought about what made a good friend and put our ideas on friendship flowers. We also chose a book and used a scene to make a window display.
Our week ended with Children In Need Day. Many thanks for your kind donations.

P7 Buddies
It was great to see P7 getting to know their buddies this week. Every P1 took a letter away with them that was written by their P7 buddy explaining how they hope they can help them settle into school life. On Wednesday P7 met their buddies and participated in a range of activities from reading and drawing to sorting activities. On a rota basis the P7’s have also been helping in the playground and lunchtime in the dinner hall. It has been fantastic to see such a nurturing attitude.
