P3 Learning
On Wednesday a surprise arrived in our classroom. It was a box and it had a label that said, “To P3a, don’t open until Friday.”
We were very excited an wrote a list of what might be in the box.
On Friday we finally got to open the box.
It contained… pine cones!!!!
We all had a look and wrote down what we might like to learn about them.
P7B Outside School Achievements
Congratulations to these members of 7B for their achievements outside of school. We have the rosettes for 2 clear rounds in a jumping competition at a local horse riding school, quite the achievement! The medal was for an unbeatable season with Murieston United girls team, amazing! What a talented pair. If you would like to share any achievements from outside of school please let us know. We would love to showcase your talents, and remember an achievement can be anything you are proud of !

Primary 3
This week we have been learning about money. We looked at the different coins. Some people decided to order them depending on their value. Next we were given an amount of a toy and had to give our partner the coins we could use to pay. We started off with numbers to 20p but soon moved up to 50p. Some even managed up to 99p! Then we went into the playground and wrote in chalk to show what coins we would use for certain amounts. Lots of active learning with partners.
P7 Buddies
It was great to see P7 getting to know their buddies this week. Every P1 took a letter away with them that was written by their P7 buddy explaining how they hope they can help them settle into school life. On Wednesday P7 met their buddies and participated in a range of activities from reading and drawing to sorting activities. On a rota basis the P7’s have also been helping in the playground and lunchtime in the dinner hall. It has been fantastic to see such a nurturing attitude.
Primary 1
Primary 1 has had a really fun week.
We have watched an ‘Alice in Wonderland’ panto, tried to beat the teacher in lots of different activities and played ‘Would I Lie to You’.
We wish you a lovely summer and thank you for your gifts and kind notes.
Mrs Hay would like to thank you for your generous gifts and good wishes. She will miss East Calder children lots!

P3B Creativity
As we get nearer to the end of term we have discussed all the things we would like to do together before our time in Primary 3 is over. Drawing. painting and making models were high on our wish list. So on Tuesday this week we had a very creative time during our Art and craft afternoon.
We enjoyed making a variety of things including bunting for Gala Week!
This week in P4!
This week P4 have been super busy working on lots of learning! We have been looking at our explanation texts in writing and creating our own art to go along with these. We have looked at rounding, probability and chance and symmetry this week in numeracy and maths. We enjoyed working on probability and chance and completing an investigation. We have continued to look at land use and settlements and learned about how towns and cities are linked. We have discussed how change may affect us moving forward and what the positive and negative impacts of changes may be.
A great week P4, have a lovely weekend.
