JUPITER ARTLAND VISIT THE NURSERY

Jupiter Artland visited the Nursery

Jupiter Artland visited this week and the children had the opportunity to make their own models from clay.  They collected natural materials to use from the wooded area in the school grounds. The children were all very excited as their buddies accompanied them during this experience.  More  photo’s to follow from Thursday’s visit.

Visit to Primary 1

While Primary 1 children were out on their trip last week, we had a last minute opportunity to take some pre-school children up to the primary 1 class for a visit.  They enjoyed playing in the classroom and listening to a story being read by Mrs Donnelly.

The transition for pre-school children will be happening in the next few weeks.  Please check the parents board in the cloakroom for more details.

P1 Parent Information Evening

Primary 1 Information Meeting for Parents/Carers

We are looking forward to welcoming our pre-school parents/carers to our school on Tuesday 28th May at 6.00pm. We are delighted that your child will be starting Primary 1 at East Calder Primary in August. We hope that our Information Evening will provide you with all the information you require and that any questions you have will be answered.

Our Information Evening will begin with a presentation which will outline the arrangements for your child starting Primary 1 in August. It will also give you some practical ideas about how you can help your child get ready for the transition to school. Following the presentation there will be an opportunity for parents/carers to visit the P1 classrooms and meet the Primary 1 teachers. For anyone who would like it, there will also be an opportunity to have a tour of the school.

We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday evening!

Autumn

Children in Nursery are noticing the seasonal changes with Autumn approaching.  Many of them are bringing leaves (that have fallen and changed colour) and conkers into nursery to show their friends and to add to our Autumn Discovery Tray.

Discovery Tray

At Group Time we have been discussing Autumn with the children and introduced a game ‘Knock Knock Knock, Whats in the Box?’ with Autumn pictures, books, leaves, apples, conkers, pine cones etc to extend their interest and allow the children to share their knowledge with their group.

Autumn Walk/EE2 Forms

We will hopefully be organising a local Autumn Walk with the children soon.  Although we need to arrange all returning families to complete an EE2 form before we can do this.  Please look out for this in the coming weeks.  A prompt return of the form would be appreciated so we will have time to go ahead with a walk.
