NURSERY – Parents Evening Appointments

Nursery Parents Evenings – Wednesday 9th & Thursday 10th October

Parents Evening Appointments will be offered to all parent/carers of preschool children in our nursery. More information will be out shortly about how to book an appointment with your child’s key worker.

Many of our younger children (anti-preschool children) have just joined our nursery or will be joining over the next few weeks. We would like them to get time to settle in to the nursery environment and routines before we offer a Parents Evening appointment for them. Therefore, parents/carers of our anti-preschool children will be given an opportunity to discuss their child’s progress later on in the term. More information about this will be given in November.

NURSERY – Personal Plans

Personal Plans

We are required to have a personal plan completed for every child in the nursery including all new children  and returning children.  The plans help us with updating records with your child’s emergency contact details and important information with medical issues or allergies.  This information also helps us in  providing vital support your child needs when settling into nursery.

Please speak to your child’s Keyworker or another member of our team when you are dropping off/picking up and they can give you a pack to complete if you haven’t already done so.  It is vital that we have this information as soon as possible.  Thank you in advance for your understanding and support.

EXPLORING OUR COMMUNITY

The children have enjoyed going for regular walks and exploring our local park and library.  They have been learning how to

  • confidently cope with everyday / new situations
  • understand the expectations of behaviour  and following rules (holding hands, getting ready to go out and staying close to nursery ladies when out and about)
  • demonstrate different ways of being active through energetic play at the park (climbing, jumping, pushing, running)
  • be aware of road safety – stopping, looking and listening at roads and crossing safely
  • share and look after books when visiting the library.

EE2

The children gain so much from going out into our local community.  We would like to be able to offer this experience to all the children in the nursery but we need EE2  (Excursion permission form) filled in by parents/carers before we can do this.  These are required for all new children and returning children.  We have been handing these out to families of returning children and they would have been in a welcome pack for new children.  If you have not filled an EE2 form in please ask a member of staff for the form, so we can include your child in this experience.  Many thanks for your support.

Nursery – Welcome!

WELCOME

We would like to warmly welcome our new families and children and our returning children and families to our new term. We are passionate about supporting your child’s interests and learning through play and developing our parent/carers partnerships to ensure your child has a happy and fulfilling experience at early years.  We take pride in our welcoming, nurturing environment and our staff will do their upmost to ensure your child’s experience of settling in is a positive one.   Communication is very important to us and we encourage you to share any information/changes about your child or home that could help us in supporting your child further.

We have new personal plan packs for returning families to complete, these will replace the previous all about me documents that you completed when your child started nursery.  The plans will help us to update your child’s details and continue to provide the best care and support for them.  These are available beside the sign in/out sheets, please collect a pack and return to us as soon as you possibly can.

SIGN IN/OUT SHEETS

We appreciate how busy our reception area can be and how much of a rush mornings are for our families but can you please ensure you sign your child in (remembering to mention anybody different who may be picking them up) and sign them out again at the end of the day.  This register is important for us to know our number of children in the nursery and crucial if we have an emergency evacuation.  Many thanks for your support with this.

NURSERY TRIP 2019

We had a fantastic time on our first family trip.  We went  to Almond Valley  Heritage Centre for the day.  The wet weather didn’t stop the children from having lots of fun with their family and friends, splashing around in the puddles, visiting the animals, jumping on the trampolines, digging in the sand and exploring all the new outdoor adventures.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our families for their continued support throughout the year and wish the nursery leavers all the very best in their new adventures at school.

Have a fantastic summer, hopefully with lots of sun!

We will  look forward to seeing our nursery returners in the new term.

VISIT TO SCHOOL

Some Nursery children visited the school this morning.  They helped                      Mrs Rafferty with a job.  We met some of the Primary 1 teachers on the way and stopped for a chat.  The children were interested in the artwork on the walls and this generated lots of chat too.
