Thank you, Primary 5!

Just a wee note from Mrs Hearne, Mrs Sandison, Mr Millar, Miss Beattie and Mrs Campbell to say thanks to all our fabulous P5 children who attended camp at Lendrick Muir last week.

They all conducted themselves beautifully, with most children listening well, following instructions and remembering their manners. We also saw many children showing great resilience, whether through attempting a challenging activity or overcoming a wee bit of homesickness at bed time!

All of the P5 parents and carers can be very, very proud – well done, P5s!

P7 Improving gender balance and equalities

Today P7 welcomed Fiona Shaw  who is a Development Officer for Education Scotland. Her role is to work with schools to ensure everyone has equality of opportunity, particularly with careers and subject choice. We engaged with a variety of tasks which raised our awareness of stereotypes . There was a lot of thought provoking conversations which really made us all think about unconscious bias. Many thanks to Fiona for joining us.

House Point Winners 2018-2019

House Point Winners 2018-2019

The house points for this school session have been counted and the overall winners are….. CALDERHALL. Well done!

If your child is in Calderhall House they will receive their ‘house treat’ on Thursday afternoon (27th June). The house treat this year is a DVD in the hall with a small snack provided for them. If your child would like they can bring in a small blanket/cushion or cuddly in with them on Thursday to take to the hall for the DVD.

It was very close so well done to all our pupils on receiving so many house points throughout the year for their effort, positive attitude and behaviour in school.

Primary 7 Leaver’s Treat

What a week for Primary 7 last week! Due to their fantastic fundraising skills all pupils raised enough to cover the cost of their party! The evening was a huge success (even Miss Conner and Mrs Stewart had a bounce).

They were well and truly spoilt with an hour of play, hot dogs or pizza and lots of sweet treats too! Despite all the energy used on Wednesday night they still managed to pull off two outstanding performances in their Leaver’s Assembly on Thursday!

Well Done P7!

Crowning of the Gala Queen

On Friday evening 2 of our groups of pupils performed for the newly crowned East Calder Gala Queen. Up first were our choir, who are becoming seasoned performers now, with their lovely upbeat summer song. Secondly our newly formed Primary 6 and 7 dance group took to the stage to dance. This was their first performance and they were fantastic!
Well done to all children who participated- it takes a lot of courage to perform to such a large audience.
