Well done to the dancers who represented East Calder Primary School on Friday evening for the crowning of the Gala Queen 2025.
The girls danced to Wings by Little Mix and demonstrated their use of creativity and collaborating meta-skills.
P6 welcomed Scottish Fire and Rescue to our school on Monday. With Bonfire Night fast approaching it was great for the class to hear all about not only the Firework code but also how the Fire service responds to incidents at this time of year. We linked the visit to our learning by thinking about the features of the poster genre and what sort of layout and organisation would grab the readers’ attention. We used this information to create a Firewok code poster for a Primary School audience.
What a great Saturday this must have been…..except for the score. Mascot for the day at Livingston FC. As the Mascot you got to meet the Livingston players in the home dressing room and have a tour of the stadium. You then had the opportunity of a kick about on the park, with a photo shoot with your favourite player. Finally, you waited in the tunnel for the players and got to run out with the team. What an amazing experience!
Wow! What can we say but a huge thank you to East Calder Bowling Club. Today we were fortunate enough to visit the bowling club where we taught the fine art of bowling….it is much trickier than it looks! We are so grateful to everyone involved who gave up their time and for the much needed refreshments on such a beautiful day. Considering some of the children had never bowled before there were some real pros in our midst. We would also like to say thank you to the Club for the incredibly generous donation to the P7 Hoody fund. This was much appreciated. The children thoroughly enjoyed this worthwhile experience.
We would like to thank everyone who came to our Sharing the Learning on Wednesday. It was great to hear the class talking with such confidence and expertise about their particular Station activity. Thanks to all those who were brave enough to try our Victorian assessment,Easter egg prizes have been dispatched!
It was great to be able to visit The Partnership Centre today. After a long wait due to covid restrictions our Hub group has finally had the opportunity to make links with the community again. We had a great time visiting the library, completing quizzes, questionnaires and even had a storytelling session. It has encouraged us all to grab a library card and make the most of this great resource right on our doorstep! Many thanks to the Library and Debbie for opening early for us. It was fantastic to have the whole library to ourselves. Keep an eye out for our next Community Hub visit!
