Both classes spent some time together and shared our learning about circles. We had to draw circles in pairs with a piece of string and a piece of chalk, we then labelled the different properties of a circle. We figured out that the string had to be tight and we needed an anchor point. There were some great displays of communication, leadership and problem solving going on. After we finished, we had a bit of fun playing a giant game of duck, duck, goose – running around the circumference of the circle. An excellent showcase of our mathematical understanding and skills, all whilst the sun was shining.

Celebrating Success in P7
Here is one of our P7 pupils who took part in The Livingston Athletics club championships. She placed first in long jump and first in her 80m sprint.
She loved the supportive environment and standing on the podium for the medal ceremony, a massive well done!
Living our Pedagogical Principles in P7 & P6
Have a look at our collaborative display across Primary 7 and 6. We are showcasing how we use and live our Pedagogical Principles in the upper school at ECPS.
We are so proud of the pupils and we always enjoy witnessing their rich discussions. Play in the upper school has become an important part of our pedagogy, it has definitely deepened understanding and the best part is we have so much fun!
Identifying our strengths in P7
We created our Pixton Avatars this week and we can’t wait to get started. Some of us have already started to write our own Place Value comics…coming soon!
We also explored the importance of social skills and how we control our emotions, linking these to the Zones of Regulation. We are going to explore our own social targets and strategies for each of the zones. Some of us were thinking about what makes a good friend and our own strengths as a friend.
We came up with some powerful adjectives: empathetic, kind, honest, trustworthy, calm, supportive, mature, funny, respectful, positive, social, helpful and more!
We discussed and linked these skills and strengths to our applications for the Pupil Leadership Group.
Good luck to everyone who applies!
Our first week in Primary 7
We had a successful first week in Primary 7, we started to explore the UNCRC and recapped on our school LEARN values and rules. We are working on our class charter and we have suggested some brilliant ideas for it.
In numeracy, we had fun learning about place value, we made some place value cups and played some interactive games to help our understanding. We played place value bingo and now Miss Young owes us some prizes!
Sky Up Studios- P7A
We had an incredible time today at The Sky Up Studios. We worked on our script writing skills before attending and it definitely paid off. In our studio groups, we had assigned job roles and everyone worked well as a team. The Sky staff reminded us of the skills we were developing throughout the process, it was a great learning experience for everyone involved.
Have a look at some of the ‘behind the scenes’ photographs.
P7 Raffle!
Our Primary 7 pupils have been busy! They used their persuasive writing skills to contact businesses to help fundraise for our leavers’ hoodies. We were overwhelmed with the response, please have a look through some of the incredible prizes. Pupils will be selling raffle tickets from tomorrow (18th April) in school, they are £2.50 a strip. Good luck and thank you for the support.
Coding Angles in P7A
As part of our pupil led exploratory work recently, the pupils had agency to create and code an angle in whatever way they wanted to. Some coded their angles on Micro:bits, some chose to create dances with angles through Code.org (Dance Party) and some used Scratch.
Take a look at some of our creations below. The coding activity helped the pupils to use their innovation skills whilst deepening their mathematic understanding surrounding angles.
We also received a very exciting delivery of Binary Bots which we are using our skills to build in class, we can’t wait until they are completed.
Coding and Dancing in P7A
We were lucky enough to have a visit from a coding specialist last week. Miss Gurung, from Edinburgh University sparked our creativity and critical thinking skills when she asked us to identify different popular dances through code.
We then had a chance to demonstrate the code through dancing and show off our moves.
The final part of the challenge was to create and code our own character to prepare for a dance off. We carried out the dance battle and voted for the winning team. Have a look at some of our dances and code below:
Eggcellent Ethical Living in P7A
In P7 we are looking at ethical living and exploring what this means for our future, our health and the choices we make. The pupils were interested in researching the egg industry.
Have a look at some of the infographics we created to display our learning, we did some by hand and some using Canva software.
