World Book Day and Fairtrade in P7A

We have had a busy week, preparing for and delivering our Primary 7 assembly on Fairtrade. The pupils did a marvellous job of leading their learning and delivering an amazing and engaging assembly. Well done!

We also had the privilege of being the first class to open the new library and we loved it! Our learners now have a new learning environment that allows us to explore our inquisitiveness and enjoyment in reading.

Have a look at some of our photos from World Book day, our assembly and library visit.

Some creative costumes! Choose The World You Want – Fairtrade. Where’s Wally? Where is he?
Little Miss Magic and the golden ticket.

Some relaxed reading.
Sharing our books. An interactive reading experience with our class Audio Book.

Discovering Angles

P7A used their prior knowledge to create and identify different types of angles through folding paper. We managed to create and identify the properties of most of the angles; there was a bit of problem-solving involved when it came to the reflex angle! We used our communication and team work skills to conquer the task.

Wordle and Nerdle in P7A

P7A have expressed interest in exploring the online ‘Wordle and Nerdle’ games, we have been using our talking and listening skills to explore strategies within numeracy and literacy. There have been some interesting learning conversations around vowel patterns, commonly used consonants and probability.

Have a look at a few of our recent class attempts.

Scots Week in P7A

This week we have explored the Scots language and culture.  We looked at the history of the language and how it has evolved over the centuries and we used some Scots dictionaries and apps to create our own poems.

We also worked on our reading strategies and rehearsed some poems to present to each other and the class. The class elected two learners to represent P7A at Our Scots assembly.

Our class wanted to share some of their learning with their Primary 1 buddies, so they decided to record and share a version of ‘The Three Craws’…it’s very catchy!

It was a braw week indeed!

Leading the learning in P7A

This week some of our learners led their learning; exploring extinction. We learned more about biodiversity, habitats, the causes and reasons. We debated some issues linked to our science topic and the pupils posed some well thought out questions to their peers.

Counting counts – P7

We talked counting strategies in P7A today; looking at step counting, grouping and accuracy. We estimated our grains of rice and some of us were pretty accurate, some of us changed our estimation half way through based on how we chose to group and visual representation. We used our skills in addition and multiplication and didn’t even make too much of a mess!

Problem solving in P6

Today, P6 were given a length of string and a piece of chalk, they were then asked to figure out how to draw a perfect circle. Have a look at what they came up with!

We discovered the relationship between the radius and diameter, whilst having some fun outdoors at the same time.

Colin or Cuthbert? Expositions- P6

We have certainly been on a journey in P6 and the question that started it all…who is in the right, Colin on Cuthbert? We used a topical news story about one supermarket suing another supermarket to explore our spoken and written expositions – starting with some fact finding, moving onto debates and then progressing to some persuasive writing. Some pupils challenged themselves and applied their learning to digital platforms.
