P7S Visit to Sky Academy

Lights,Camera,Action!  P7S  were fortunate enough to visit Sky Academy this morning to produce their own News Report on Cyberbullying. Each group were assigned their own studio and roles. From Directors, Producers and Editors to Camera Operatives, Presenters and Reporters. Having previously worked on their brief in school the class were ready to prepare and film their report. It was great to see such amazing teamwork at work and the final cut was both informative and entertaining. Well done P7S!

WW2 Artefact Handling Session P7S

P7S would like to thank Mrs Liddell for visiting us yesterday from West Lothian  Library Services. We had the opportunity to handle a range of artefacts from WW2. We looked at a variety of uniforms and some of us (see embarrassing photographs!) even got the chance to try some on. We heard all about food and clothes rations, did you know you were only allowed 2oz of cheese and butter a week! Mrs Liddell has kindly agreed to join us in March for our Sharing the Learning Session so you will also be able to experience WW2 brought to life! We look forward to welcoming you….watch this space!

P7S World War 2 Artefacts

Thank you so much to the two members of our class who brought in precious World War 2 artefacts for us to look at. It was great to hear you tell us all about your relatives and the different roles they played in WW2.  Stories like these and artefacts for the class to hold really make our WW2 context come alive. Next week we are looking forward to Mrs Liddell joining us from Library Services. She will bringing a whole host of WW2 artefacts from Ration Books,Kit bags and ID cards to Gas Masks and medals. Watch this space!

P7 Improving gender balance and equalities

Today P7 welcomed Fiona Shaw  who is a Development Officer for Education Scotland. Her role is to work with schools to ensure everyone has equality of opportunity, particularly with careers and subject choice. We engaged with a variety of tasks which raised our awareness of stereotypes . There was a lot of thought provoking conversations which really made us all think about unconscious bias. Many thanks to Fiona for joining us.

Innoflate P7

Just a reminder that the P7 Leavers’ Party will be now held on Wednesday 19th June at Innoflate in Livingston  6pm-8pm  The children will  bounce for an hour and then eat….probably best it is in this order! With their amazing fund raising activities earlier in the year and a kind donation from the PSC the children have managed to cover both the cost of their hoodies and their night out…what an amazing achievement! Any parents who would like to stay and help are more than welcome. Children must be picked up by a known adult at the end of the evening. Let’s BOUNCE!!!
