Scots Week in P5/4C
The pupils in P5/4C have been immersing themselves in the Scots language this week. They had great fun brainstorming all the Scots words they could think of and then created a Scots dictionary to support their writing later in the week.
In writing, each pupil created a short descriptive piece about themselves using as many Scots words as they could- some great humour in evidence as well! Later in the week they worked on colouring one of Scotland’s greatest inventions for our display- who doesn’t love a Tunnock’s Teacake??
NYCOS Choir P5/4C
Starting next Monday, the P4s in P5/4C will be able to take part in NYCOS choir sessions from visiting specialists. These session will take place on Monday afternoons and will include all primary 4 pupils. We are having a short session in class this Thursday to get us started and are all looking forward to it!
P5/4C Titanic Home-School Challenge
As part of the Titanic IDL, P5/4C were challenged to create a 3D model of a 1st, 2nd or 3rd class cabin from the ill-fated ship. Many pupils rose to the challenge with great enthusiasm and have shown some fantastic creativity and inventiveness in their designs.
Thank you to everyone (and their little helpers at home!) who took up the challenge – your cabins look amazing!
Book Week P5/4C
Primary 5/4C took part in the BBC Authors Live event today in celebration of the 20th anniversary of The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson. Author James Robertson was the person responsible for translating this well-loved book into Scots language, and we enjoyed hearing him read the story and listening out for familiar Scots words. Afterwards, we labelled a picture of The Gruffalo and drew our own wee moose, labelling them in Scots. We all enjoyed sharing our favourite Scots words; among the most popular in P5/4 were MINGIN, WHEESHT and , of course, BAHOOKIE!

Primary 5/4C Homework
A fantastic piece of homework came in today all about Resilience. This P4 pupil combined literacy skills with our Health & Wellbeing Resilience outcome, using features of a comic strip to describe how this person in his life had inspired him with their resilience in the face of adversity. Great work!
