This week in P2

We have been working hard on our new topic of ‘Animals around the World’ and learning about Pets this week. We looked at what different pets need to have to be healthy and safe. We also looked at creating out own ‘What am I?’ clues for different pets.

We have continued writing descriptions and looking at Peep, my pet bird as a stimulus. In maths we have been looking at 2D shape and in Numeracy we have focused on reading and writing number words to 20 and beyond.

It has been a very busy week!

This week in P2

This week we have continued to take part in our literacy and  numeracy  activities. We have started looking at 2D shapes this week and thinking about the properties of these. We continue to look at our numeracy learning through numbers before, after and in-between up to 100. We continue to use play throughout our lessons to support our learning.  We have begun to look at our new topic of ‘Animals around the World’ this week and we started by creating some Cubist art.

Class Charter in P2

P2 have been working hard on learning about the school rules and the school values over the last couple of weeks. We have created our class charter and thought about what our class rules should be to go alongside the three school rules of Ready, Respect and Safe.
We are continuing to look at the well-being indicators in health and well-being as well as getting to know other.

Learning in P4

We have been continuing to look at The War Years as part of our new topic in class and we have been having some great discussions from this.  We looked at photos from around the time of World War 1 and discussed in groups what we thought they were and what was happening in them.  We have been looking at how to write a discussion text in literacy and practising the skills that we need to write them correctly. We have been working on fractions and time in numeracy and enjoying using ICT to help develop our learning. We also enjoy playing number skills games each week to use what we have learned in numeracy.

This week in P4

This week has been busy looking more at Scot’s language through poems by different authors and enjoying listening to stories in Scot’s.  We created our own Scot’s dictionary using some online resources and got more familiar with Class Notebook through Microsoft Teams. We enjoyed listening to the online lesson from 2 authors this week all about Robert Burns and their books which involve him.  Well done to everyone for learning a Scot’s poem, it was great getting to hear everyone recite theirs to the class.

We have also been working on fractions in numeracy and looking at how to use Carroll diagrams in maths to sort data. We look at using our number skills in different ways for problem-solving and try out different games as well.

This week in P4

This week in P4 we have been looking more in detail at Scottish poetry and stories and looking at the differences in language between Scots and English. We even had a go at creating a Scot’s dictionary using Teams.

We have also continued looking at Venn diagrams in maths and began looking at fractions in numeracy this week also. We also as part of Scottish learning looked at the work of Charles Rennie Mackintosh and had a go at recreating his famous rose pattern.

This week in P4

We have had a great time being back in school after the holiday and are fully back to our learning. We have been busy updating our art gallery wall with a variety of art types. We have looked at a variety of artists and tried to recreate our own version of their famous artworks. This has been a topic that we have loved doing in P4!

In Numeracy, we have continued to look at multiplication and division and in maths this week we have started working on Venn diagrams as part of data handling.

P4 SSPCA workshop

P4 had a wonderful morning session with the SSPCA education officer. We learned all about their job and became rescue officers ourselves when we had to solve the problems that had happened to the different animals. We then got to do some coding and plan some sequences for our robotic animals. It was great fun!
