P3a Learning

This week in P3a we have been working on numbers to 100, talking about number before, after & between. We have been sharing out strategies for adding within 20. In Literacy we have been learning about nouns & adjectives and how to write a description.  We have been introduced to Epic Reading on the iPads, which we love!  We have been continuing to discuss the wellbeing indicators and talking about how we feel. We worked as a class to decide what would be our first topic. We chose The Geography of Scotland and then thought about questions we would like to investigate. Another fun week with lots more learning!

P3a HWB

This week we have been learning about the well-being indicators Safe, Healthy, Active and Nurture. We discussed how we feel in different situations. We thought about how we know we are nurtured and how we are all unique. We designed back packs to show how we all look different and all like different things.

Our first week in P3a

We have had lots of fun exploring our new classroom and learning our new routines.  We have worked together to add within 20, find words in a Boggle board and started our Free Writing Friday – and that is just during our Smart Starts when we wake up our brains!
We have thought about how we can be kind to others and help ‘fill their bucket’.  We are looking forward to learning lots of new things together.

This term our gym days will be on a Monday & Wednesday. On these days pupils can wear gym clothes in our school colours – black, yellow or white.

P3 Outdoor Learning

Today we went out to the Quad to practice our times tables.  We worked in pairs on our trickiest table and had to check each others work.

Then we thought about the symmetry in butterflies and draw some and took pictures to show our work.

P3 Art

We have been learning about Artists called Miro and Mondrian.  We talked about the shapes they made and colours they used.  We then created our own picture in their style.  Some of us even tried to draw animals using the same idea.  We then talked about what we thought about their artwork.  Most of us preferred Miro, especially if we were creating our own, as his lines are wiggly so easier to draw than Mondrian’s straight lines.  We then took our learning outdoors and created chalk drawings in their styles.

P3 Magnet Work

The pupils were given magnets to explore and see what they could find out. First they found items in the class which the magnets would stick to and some that it didn’t. Then they worked in bases to experiment with the magnets. Some used them to make cars move while others found that they could move a magnet by putting one on the desk and moving it about with another under the desk. Others used the big horseshoe magnet to see how many paperclips they could pick up.
