This week the children shared their views and ideas on what they would like to learn about in primary two. They wrote excellent sentences. Below you will see some examples. Some of the ideas included, wildlife, nature, unicorns and Space. Lots of us chose animals so we decided that wildlife will be our first IDL context. Keep up the good work P2!
Primary two have had a fantastic first week. We got to know one another and discussed what we would like to learn this year. We recapped on our prior knowledge of the school values and acted out each LEARN value. We played in our shop and used our addition skills to add the items that we bought. The photographs below show some of our learning. Well done P2!
PE days: Monday & Wednesday
We made crowns in class and wore them all day. After our Jubilee snack we played games.
We had a lovely time.
This week P2B have been very busy. To celebrate book week and world book day, we have written book reviews, designed book covers and decided that we would like to create a display on one of our favourite stories, ‘The Snail and the Whale’. Today, we went to the opening of our new school library and had great fun 😀.
Yesterday, P2A and P2B went on a Scavenger hunt around East Calder. Their challenge was to find letters on our stroll and use these to make a word. We had great fun and discovered that the word was ‘New Year 2022’.
Yesterday was World Book Day. P5 and P5/4 worked very hard. Everyone led their learning and chose how they wanted to complete each task. We are super impressed with the creative ideas and different formats used to complete all activities. Excellent examples are shown below.
This week you have produced some amazing work. You have learned about equivalent fractions, written diary entries based on a historical figure and designed your own theme park leaflets. You even created detailed maps of your theme park which many of you did electronically. Keep up the good work 👏🏼.
This week both P5/4 and P5 have worked very hard⭐️.
They have created fact files on their favourite animal, learned the bus stop division method with remainders and engaged in live quizzes. They were set a challenge to create a model from recycled materials and to build a sustainable house for the three little pigs. Below you will see some photos of excellent examples. P5/4 really enjoyed book week. As a class we decided on activities that we would like to do. We learned about different authors and created fact files on them. We also designed characters and book covers and retold fairy tale stories by giving them our very own twist.
P5/4 are continuing to enjoy outdoor learning.
Last week we did some gardening. We were thrilled to find potatoes growing beneath the weeds. We used the weeds to create art work.
