NURSERY – Warm Clothing

Our children  have the opportunity to access their outdoor play area in all weathers and during group time we go for a walk in our local community.  To ensure they are prepared for the cold weather, please provide hat and gloves for your child and leave inside their backpack for easy access when they are getting dressed themselves ready to go out.

If you have any spare hats and gloves you no longer use please recycle by donating them to nursery.  We try to have a spare supply for children who have forgotten  to bring them. Thank you for your support.

Our School/Nursery PSA have kindly purchased  waterproofs for the children to wear when playing outdoors.   This was a much needed resource for the children’s outdoor play, which we are very grateful for.

To celebrate and put the waterproofs to good use, we will be arranging a ‘Welly Walk’ in the community with the children.  More details to follow soon.

As stated in Care Inspectorate ‘My World Outdoors’ 2016 publication

‘There is a growing body of research that shows that young children’s                access to nature and outdoor play is positively associated with                             improved self-esteem, physical health, development of language skills            and disposition to learning’   (Davy, 2009 (57))

NURSERY – SCOTTISH CELEBRATIONS

On the lead up to Robert Burn’s Day on 25th January the children have been enjoying practising simple Celidh dancing and Scottish songs and rhymes such as Three Craws, Wee Willie Winkie and Ye Cannae Shove Yer Granny of the Bus.  We have been discussing and having fun with Scottish words and language and been impressed by how many are familiar with slang words.

We will continue with our celebrations up to Robert Burns Day and then introduce Chinese New Year, this helps the children to learn about different cultures and traditions.

Bird Watch 2020

The children are participating in RSPB Big Garden Bird Watch 2020.  They have enjoyed using binoculars to spot birds in the nursery garden/playground.  To find out more information on how to take part please`check our Parent Information Board in the cloakroom or visit rspb.org.uk/birdwatch

NURSERY – LUNCH BAGS

We are now able to store items from your child’s lunch bag in a refrigerator until lunch.  If you have items in your child’s bag that needs refrigeration, please put them into a plastic bag with your child’s name on and hand it to the staff member at the door on entry.

Many thanks

NURSERY – MERRY CHRISTMAS & THANK YOU

Our School/Nursery Fayre was a huge success and a great turnout.  It was lovely to see so many of our children and families attending especially on such a wet and windy day.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank our hard working PSA committee, who have worked very hard to make the fayre a success.

A big thank you also to our generous families who donated towards the fayre, it was greatly appreciated and also for buying the children’s handmade goodies.  The money raised directly benefits all the children in the nursery and school.

We will reschedule a date in January for our parent group meeting to go ahead.  Unfortunately due to the time of year, parents were unable to attend our December meeting.  Hopefully in January we can meet to discuss future fundraising events for the Nursery.

Our Nursery Team would like to thank all our families for their kind cards, gifts and ongoing support  and wish you all a Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy new year.
