P7/6C Homework

Primary 7/6C have been working on an Island project as part of their homework this term. In week 1 they designed their own Island with either a map or model showing key landmarks and features of the island. Some children even used computer software to design their 3D Island while others completed detailed drawings with a description and a key.  Here are some of the finished Islands:

Week 2 asked pupils to complete a piece of imaginative writing explaining how their character arrived on the Island! We enjoyed sharing these stories and diary entries with the class demonstrating their use of descriptive and emotive language.

After School Clubs

Our After School Clubs for Term 4 begin this week for 4 weeks. If your child has been offered a place in a club they were given a slip last week. Please ensure all P5-7 children attending clubs have returned the permission slip before their club begins.

Term 4 clubs are as follows:

  • Monday Cheerleading (P6/7) and Clay (P2/3)
  • Wednesday Rugby (P4/5)
  • Thursday Creative Literacy (P1)

If for any reason your child cannot attend a club please inform their class teacher or school office.

Primary 7/6C 20th Century Timeline

We have been learning about key events from the 20th Century and beginning to build our sense of chronology by examining key historical events and changes to technology. Yesterday we engaged in a session with museum services in which we each selected an item and identified where it would come on our timeline of decades. It was clear to see how many technological advances happened throughout the century and since! Miss Conner felt very old when we examined a tape player and floppy disks and the class tried to identify their uses- how technology has changed! An excellent afternoon with a lot to learn! Can you identify the objects? Which of the 10 decades do you think it was from?

This one was the trickiest! No one could guess what it was or when it was from? When we realised it was a gas powered portable hair curler the girls were jealous we don’t have these available now!
