Celebrating success in P7!

It’s lovely to hear about our pupils achievements in and out of school. Here are two pupils celebrating their medals and hard work in their extra-curricular activities.

One pupil won five medals at the Fauldhouse Swimming Gala: coming 4th in the 200m freestyle, 5th in the 50m breaststroke, 1st place – winning two gold medals in the 50m freestyle and 50m back stroke and one silver medal in the 50m butterfly. Incredible!

Another pupil shared his success after winning two gold medals at the World Kickboxing Association (WKA), beating the current world champion!

Well done boys, you are demonstrating many meta-skills here including collaboration and leadership.

An Explanation

We have been looking at the Explanation Genre. This genre explains how or why something happens. We decided to link our Literacy to our current IDL context of Natural Disasters.

We also used our ICT skills by researching a Natural Disaster of our choice. We created notes in our first draft. We then looked at the features and layout of an Explanation and used this and the genre targets to improve our final draft, ensuring it included all the elements of the genre such as

P3A Learning

This week we’re learning to tell the time. Some of us used Play Dough to create the hands of a clock to tell o’clock & half past times. Others tested each other telling quarter past & quarter to using the clock faces. Some were working on changing between analogue & digital times. We also used the laptops to test our knowledge.

This week we started learning to use questions marks. First we practiced writing them, then we had to think about question words. Next we looked at a picture and worked with a random partner to come up and write down questions about it. Lastly we became Question Mark Detectives and hunted for question marks in our reading books.

In Art we thought about the colours of leaves we see just now and then created Autumn pictures.
