We have had a lovely end to this term, doing some really fun activities. We have been to the Park, out for walks and enjoying the gym hall. We hope all our Hive children and families have a lovely summer break and we’ll see you in August!
On Thursday morning Primary 5 had a visit from Natalie and Emma from InStep dance who kindly donated their time to give us a taster session of a hip-hop dance class. Everyone made a huge effort to participate and came up with a very impressive routine after just a short session, a lovely fun way to round off the term. Thank you again to Natalie and Emma for making it such a fun session. IMG_1338

P2 and P2/1 had a super time at The Scottish Owl Centre in Polkemet.
We took part in a ‘Hoots for Dinner’ game, where we learned about what some owls eat and saw an owl fly from perch to perch. One of our highlights was seeing a baby owl. We all thought it looked very fluffy, small and cute!
After lunch we had a go on the Owl slide and had great fun at the park.
We’ve been outside in this lovely weather. We worked in pairs to draw analogue clocks. We’ve been working on o’clock, half past and quarter past times.

A massive congratulations to our 2023 Sports Day Champions…. Almondell!
We were very impressed with how hard all the pupils worked out in the sunshine. Thank you to all the spectators that came along to support the athletes!
Wow! What can we say but a huge thank you to East Calder Bowling Club. Today we were fortunate enough to visit the bowling club where we taught the fine art of bowling….it is much trickier than it looks! We are so grateful to everyone involved who gave up their time and for the much needed refreshments on such a beautiful day. Considering some of the children had never bowled before there were some real pros in our midst. We would also like to say thank you to the Club for the incredibly generous donation to the P7 Hoody fund. This was much appreciated. The children thoroughly enjoyed this worthwhile experience.
This week we started learning about grid references. We have different activities to help us. We used the Maths Wall to place pictures in the grid and then have to write the correct Co-ordinates. We had some work on Seesaw to complete placing and recording Co-ordinates and an Alien game to shoot the Alien crafts by getting the Co-ordinates correct. We played Billy Bug and had a sheet to colour the Co-ordinates to create a picture. Lots of learning!
On Thursday the 25th of May Primary 4A invited their families into school to share our learning from this term. The children planned an afternoon full of activities linking to our learning in class. Adults then had to complete a Kahoot! Quiz using lots of information from the 7 different stations.
Thank you to all parents and carers who joined us.
