Primary 5 have had a busy week celebrating Book Week Scotland this week. We began by writing reviews of our favourite books and sharing these with the rest of the class. We joined an Authors Live event where we took part in a draw-along session with author and illustrator Emily Mackenzie to recreate her character Granville, who features in ‘There’s Broccoli in my Ice Cream’- great fun! On Thursday we joined a live Giglets session where we heard the story of Tommy Foghorn and had an opportunity to hear from the illustrator and ask him questions. We also enjoyed creating animal-themed book covers for our school competition and received our Queen’s Jubilee commemorative books from Mrs Robertson. We enjoyed stories from two Secret Readers and made bookmarks with our P3 Reading buddies. A fantastic celebration of books and reading!

We love Book Week!
A very big thank you to all our visitors who have joined us this week to celebrate Book Week Scotland 2022.
It was wonderful to have you all in our library to share the books in the Book bags with Primary 1, 2 and 3 learners.
All pupils also received their copy of the book ‘Queen Elizabeth’ which celebrates the 70 year reign of the late Queen.
And not forgetting a huge thank you to those parents and carers who volunteered to be secret readers. Classes really enjoy having visitors. It is much appreciated.
We hope you have all enjoyed sharing a story together this week.. remember if you have been reading in some really unusual places we would love to see a photo!
Happy Reading everyone!

Book Week Primary 1
What a busy Book Week Primary 1 have had! It was great to meet so many parents in the library on Monday and receive Book Bags. In class we have read each story and made bats, our own sea creature book and chosen clothes to dress for different weathers.
We were also surprised 3 times with secret readers and loved the stories. We had a bookmark competition in class and are waiting to hear who our winners are.
Please remember to return reading books on Thursdays to ensure everyone can take one home the following week.
