Learning in P1

We’ve been learning a new sound ‘ie’ this week and have been reading and building words with the ‘ie’ sound in them.

We’ve also been learning about subtraction and have been ‘taking away one’ from a group.

We’ve been listening to lots of stories and some of us have even been counting to 10 in French!

The teachers are really looking forward to seeing everyone in school on Monday.  Have a lovely weekend.

Thank you P3!

As we get ready to return to school on Monday we would like to say a  huge thank you to you all for your hard work over the last few weeks. We have been so  impressed by how well you have engaged with remote learning and with the standard of your work. Lots of you have tried hard to extend your learning at  home.

Also a massive thank you to all the mums and dads .. and some brothers and sisters, that have helped and supported you to do your best. It has not been easy at times.

We have managed to stay on track with our learning and we have covered work that we would be doing if we were in school. We hope you are feeling ready to continue in school and we know you will be excited to see your friends. It will all look and feel the same as before. There are now hand sanitiser dispensers on the wall at the door so this makes it very easy to remember to clean  our hands. We will let you know next week which days we will be having PE this term.

Looking forward to seeing all of your smiley faces on Monday!

Have a lovely weekend!

From your very proud… and excited teachers!

P2/1 Remote Learning week 8th-12th February

Well done on a fantastic week of learning!

Primary 1s, in Literacy/Phonics we learned a new sound ‘ee’ and practised sounding out cvc words with the sound ‘n’ such as nap, neck, nut and net.  In Maths we learned more about telling the ‘half-past’ time and we also learned about using Tally Marks correctly in Data Handling.  In Numeracy we had fun learning about working out the missing Addend which is a number that is added to another number.  In Health and Wellbeing we completed some activities learning more about the meaning of Respect and what makes a Kind Friend and in Science we learned about Forces and Push and Pull.

Primary 2s, in Literacy – Phonics and Spelling – we learned about words with magic e and an ‘o’ and also soft ‘c’ words.  In Reading Comprehension we worked hard on our Inference skills and in Writing we completed the ending to our imaginative story.  In Numeracy we learned about missing Subtrahends (a number to be  subtracted from another number) and we also learned about halves and quarters in Fractions.  We also learned more about division and how to make equal groups of 4.  In Health and Wellbeing we learned about what makes a Good Friend.

I’m really proud of all of your hard work.  Well done.

Another Great Week of Home Learning in P2A

Dear parents/carers,

What a fantastic week this has been! We have had lots of snow but there has still been so much effort with our home learning. In Literacy, we have been learning magic e words with an o and we have been learning to find information in a text in Reading Comprehension. I have been so impressed with your thoughtful answers to the inference questions too. You worked super hard in Writing this week and you wrote the ending to your imaginative stories. Well done for working hard to use capital letters, finger spaces, full stops and connectives.

In Numeracy, we learned more about fractions and making equal groups to divide by 4. There have been some amazing photos of your equal groups uploaded to Seesaw to show how hard you are working. There has been so much creativity and well done to everyone who has been working on the remote learning grid tasks too. Jaysiel deserves a mention for her very expressive performance of “Chokey Chant” from Matilda the Musical which was one of your Drama tasks on the grid.

Harris has been doing some fantastic word building to practise spelling magic e with an o. Well done for working so hard to read and write your words Harris:)

Isabelle has been working hard to describe arrays in Number Talks this week. Well done for your hard work Isabelle:)
Look at Frankie’s amazing efforts with this week’s STEM challenge from Mrs Beattie. This is so impressive, Frankie! Well done for working so hard and you have shown great teamwork with mum and Danny to create this heart structure. Fantastic work:)
This is Evie’s super division task. She worked hard to describe the equal groups and write down how many objects were in each group. Brilliant Numeracy work Evie:)
This really impressed me this week! Isla’s wrote a fantastic ending to her imaginative story with capital letters, finger spaces and full stops. She even used some connectives too. Well done for writing such a creative story and for really working hard to develop your confidence in Writing:)
Well done to everyone for all your hard work this week. I am so proud of you all. Thank you also to parents and carers for your continued support. Have a lovely holiday everyone:)

P2B Learning – 8th February

Good afternoon P2B, parents and carers,

We have had another fun filled week of activities. Although we had lots of school work to complete we managed to fit in plenty of time to play outside in the snow.

This week we have been counting down to the February break however that didn’t mean our hard work  stopped. Below is some of our hard work from this week.

Literacy: We have been learning how to read and spell magic e with an ‘o’ words.

Literacy: We have been learning how to write an imaginative story.

This week we wrote the ending and reflection of our story. Our writing is amazing and we hope you think so too!

Numeracy: We have been learning how to form arrays.

Numeracy: We have been learning how to make equal groups of 4.

From the additional activities grid:

Modern Languages (Spanish): We have been learning how to say your name and age in Spanish.

Art and Design: We have been learning how to draw real life creatures.

Well done on another week of amazing work P2B! You are surprising me more and more each week. Have a great holiday and keep safe.

Kind Regards,

Miss Walkingshaw

P4/3 Remote Learning

This week we have been continuing to learn to write a discussion text.  We wrote a text about ‘Should children wear uniform to school?’.  We planned our work by writing key words under the headings ‘for’ and ‘against’ before writing it.  We have also learned more about how to understand text by writing a summary.

We have worked on Numeracy by extending our knowledge of family sums and column addition.  Some more of us moved on to multiplication.

In Health this week we were learning about friendship and how to be a good friend.

This week we have been extending our knowledge of the Celts by researching tribes and warriors.  We researched and drew Celtic shields.

This week in P4

This week in P4 we have looked at writing discussion texts, summarising a text and worked on our spelling in literacy. We have continued to look at column addition and multiplication in Numeracy. In our health activities, we focused on family and friendship and in our topic of The Celts, we looked at a range of research questions.  These included finding out about the religion they followed, looking at the types of warriors they had and then drawing and designing Celtic shields.

Here are just a few great examples:

Have a lovely holiday weekend everyone, you have worked so hard.
