Primary 2A Phonics

Good afternoon,

I hope you have all had a lovely weekend. Please see below for this week’s Phonics sounds. We are learning “ou” and “ow” in class week. Please support your child to practise reading and writing these words at home. In class, we focus on sounding out to blend the sounds together. If the children are confident reading and writing the words, they may wish to write sentences with their words to challenge them further.

Good morning,

I hope you all had a lovely weekend.

Please find attached one of our new sounds for this week – ‘ee’ and ‘ea’.

If you could further practise these at home this would offer additional support to your child in their learning. You may wish to do this through games or practising writing and reading the words. Focus on sounding out and blending each word to improve their independence.

Thank you for your continued support,

P6 – Learners Leading Learning

I was delighted to receive this message by email today from our P6 class. Our school are working on developing reading skills and we have purchased some puppets to help the younger pupils understand the skills we are learning about. Our pupils in P6 have come up with the great idea of creating videos to help introduce the younger pupils to the skills they are learning about and using in their reading. I’m looking forward to seeing how the videos turn out! Well done P6 for a great idea – another example of our young learners leading learning in ECPS 🙂

Primary 2A Phonics

Thank you for your continued support with this. Please remember to check Seesaw for your child’s homework grid for the next two weeks. More blog posts to follow now that we have our ipad fixed and we can now upload pictures. Keep checking our blog for regular updates on our learning.

Thank you.

Primary 2/1 – Primary 2 Spelling Words and Homework Grid

Hello Primary 2s in my P2/1 class,

I hope you are all well and have had a lot of fun at the weekend.  This week our Phonics sounds are ee and ea.  Please see the Spelling words for our two groups below.    Some children also continue to practise reading and writing CVC words. Please support your child to read and write these words at home.

Please also continue to support your child to read Fry’s sight words at home. They do not need to practise writing these words until they are confidently able to read them.

Below Homework Grid is for Monday 23rd November through to Friday 4th December.  I hope you have lots of fun trying out some of these activities at home.

P5/4 Book Week

P5/4 really enjoyed book week. As a class we decided on activities that we would like to do.  We learned about different authors and created fact files on them. We also designed characters and book covers and retold fairy tale stories by giving them our very own twist.

P3 Homework – Monday 23rd November 2020

Good morning P3!

Here is your homework grid for the next 2 weeks.

P3 homework grid 23rd NoV

You will also be able to access it on Seesaw.

Please make sure you complete the squares that are shaded in. The others are optional.

We are really enjoying getting to see all the amazing work you have been doing on Seesaw and even getting some previews of your class talks! Keep up the good work.

One of your homework tasks from the last grid was to prepare a class talk about your dream job. We will be presenting these from today, so please make sure you are prepared and have anything you need with you!

We are really looking forward to seeing your class talks this week!

Have a fantastic week!

P2B Phonics

Good morning,

Another update from P2B (apologies!)

This week will be focusing on two new sounds during our class learning time. We will be learning the following sounds:

‘oi’ and ‘oy’

Spelling-Words-oi-and-oy1

‘oo’

Spelling-Words-oo

Please try your best to support your child at home by practising how to sound out and blend each word. You may wish to play a game with them to practise these words (ie cover up game). Practising writing each word from knowledge will also help your child to remember these important sounds for when they are reading.

Thank you for your continued support.
