Transition Task – Week 2

Week 2 Transition Task – ‘It’s A Seashell Day’

This week we would like you to watch and listen to the story ‘It’s a Seashell Day’ by Diane Ochiltree with your child.  The story and learning activities suggested are an ideal way to further develop your child’s number sense and the counting principles. This learning will be revisited when your child starts Primary 1.  Please follow the link below to access the story ‘It’s a Seashell Day’.  We hope you enjoy it 🐚

If you want to learn more about the counting principles please click the link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SG0jzpZtfgs

We hope you and your child enjoy this weeks story 🙂 Maybe you can continue to find ways to count objects in your house and/or garden or maybe you can spot numbers and collections of objects in your environment or out on your walks.

Brilliant Home Learning in P2M

Good afternoon everyone,

I hope you and your families have had a great week and have enjoyed the nice weather. Thank you again for the home learning that has been sent this week. Here are some more examples of the hard work you have all been doing at home.

Article 29: We have the right to develop our talents and abilities.

Your artwork you have been working on in your garden is fantastic Marcie. Well done for all your hard work!

You have been working hard to practise telling the time using o’clock, half past and quarter past. Well done Toby! Look at all this hard work!

You have been watching “Let’s Go Live” with Maddie and Greg. You have learned some interesting facts about dinosaurs. Well done for all your hard work Luca!

You have been working hard reading the Collins Big Cat Literacy books. Jess the cat looks like she enjoyed reading about the Titanic too. Well done for all your hard work!

Well done everyone! Have a lovely weekend.

NURSERY – Fun and Learning at Home

Good afternoon Everyone

Here are some suggested activities to give a try.

Sock Puppets – Create your own sock puppet and make your own characters and stories up. What will your puppets look like?, what will their story be? We would love to see them on your Learning Journal. L.I I can use my imagination to create my own characters and stories.

Skittle Rainbow – Do you like skittles? You could give this experiment a try?, What pattern will you make? Follow Chloe’s instructions to try this “I put skittles all around the plate and then put water in the middle. I waited and watched until the rainbow grew. I ate the sweeties after, they were yummy!” L.I I can experiment with various items and can explain the changes that happen and why. I can create and follow on a simple pattern.

Music – In nursery we love to sing, if you would like to learn some new songs please click on this link.

Mental Health Awareness Week

Good afternoon everyone,

If you were not already aware, this week is Mental Health Awareness Week. Mental Health Awareness Week aims to get people talking about their mental health and reduce the stigma that can stop people from asking for help.

Although we are not in school at the moment, this doesn’t mean we can’t speak to one another or share our feelings. Below is a resource that you might like to use to share how you are feeling and help you open up and talk to others. You may want to print this off or create your own ‘Feelings Cloud’ so you and your family members can do this together.

Take care and be kind,

Miss Walkingshaw
