NURSERY – Display Boards

Display Boards

Our Nursery team have been busy creating display boards throughout the nursery to keep families informed about their child’s play and learning.  Please take the time to have a look and share your child’s learning and magic moments with us and we can display this on the boards.

 Living, Growing and Playing

You will find this board displayed in our reception area.  If your child has had a ‘magic moment’ at home  please share this with us.  We are both delighted and proud to hear all about your child’s play and learning and would love to display this on the fruit tree’s. Perhaps if your child has managed to put on their shoes for the first time or zipped up their coat, we would celebrate this by writing it on the fruit and displaying it on their group tree (red group has red fruit, green group has green fruit etc).

We have a new ‘Planning’ display board in the main nursery area beside the smartboard.  This display’s your child’s voice. photo’s and work of what we have observed during play and learning.  This guides us in extending and developing their learning further by taking the lead from their interests.

The children have been enjoying our trips in the local community such as the park, sheltered housing, sensory garden, library, cafe and shops.  These opportunities have helped us to build relationships and make valuable connections.  The children have shown enthusiasm and used what they have learned from these meaningful real life experiences to extend their role play, literacy and mathematics skills and health and wellbeing.

We have displayed photo’s and your child’s voice on our ‘The World Around Me’ board in the reception area.

Busy Busy in P7S!

Primary 7S have been very busy over the last few weeks! We have been learning about Money with Mr Kellock who has been visiting us from West Calder High School; Mr McInnes visited our classroom and ran a workshop on light photography; we learned about Showing Racism the Red Card with Derek and Chris, then wore red on Friday the 4th October to show our support for reducing racism. We have also been enjoying play in P7 and during Fun Time Friday we had the opportunity to play in our school nurture room, we had great fun! Some of us are feeling very proud to have been given a House Captain or Vice Captain job and we are looking forward to the duties we will undertake in this role.

We have also been celebrating wider achievements in P7S and a few of our classmates have been participating in swimming competitions and Taekwondo championships – have a look at their photographs below.

From all the pupils in P7S

P2 and P5/4 Reading Buddies

Miss Marra’s class met up with their P5 and P4 reading buddies for the first time on Friday. The children were very excited to meet their new buddies and are all looking forward to getting together regularly throughout the rest of the session. We had a lovely, quiet, focused reading session on Friday morning – well done, everyone!
