P2/3 PE

This week in PE with Mrs Moyes, P2/3 learned how to play a new playground game. They learned how to play ‘Capture the Flag’. This involved listening to instructions very carefully and working as a team. They really enjoyed this and are keen to play the game with their friends in the playground.

We can wear pretty much anything we want (except football colours or strips.) We talked about bright colours, hair dyed, wigs, blow up guitars, costumes or fancy dress outfits.

We haven’t many tickets left and are hoping to have a sell out night!

Hope to see you there!!!

P6 meet Nursery Buddies

Primary 6 have been enjoying getting to know their nursery buddies. These will be the children that P6 will work with and support when they move onto P7 and P1.

Primary 6 have spent some time in the nursery itself, as well as having time outside in the playground with their buddies.

Maycee said “I played with my buddy outside with the basketball. We had a nice time together!”

Robbie commented “I drew a picture for my buddy. She is adorable.”

Emma said “My buddy and I played with the doll house in the nursery. It was lots of fun.”

Jessica said “I liked it when I played tig with my buddy.”

Rebecca commented “My buddy is really cute and nice! Me and her played in the house with the baby dolls and we also played outside together.”

Mindfulness in The Den

In The Den we have been learning about Mindfulness.

Mindfulness is “The practice of being aware of your body, mind, and feelings in the present moment, thought to create a feeling of calm.”

To create this feeling of calm we close the blinds, find a space to lie on a beanbag on the floor, turn off the light and listen to calming music. We also practise our deep breathing. We finish the session by having a big stretch and each of us says something positive that has happened so far that day. This helps us to go back to class feeling calm and positive.

P4 Science

Today, P4 were excited to welcome science students from West Lothian College. We had a fantastic morning learning all about different kinds of energy through a variety of practical experiments. At the static station the children investigated friction with rods, cloths and water. When they rubbed the rod with the cloth and then place next to the water something strange happens. Ask your child to explain it to you! The rod has negative electrons and when placed near the water, which has positive electrons, it repels or attracts it! The most popular experiment voted by the children was when we went outside to watch a custard bomb go off in the playground. The heat energy created an explosion and the force blew off the lid with sparks!!

Rookie Rockstars

Primary 4 have been enjoying the chance to learn songs and dance moves with Glyn and Chloe from “Rookie Rockstars” ! Each afternoon this week we have met with the rest of the school for an afternoon of singing, question time and even challenges between pupils and teachers! Ticket order forms have gone out (£5 each available from the school office) for NEXT Thursday night’s performance at 6.30 in the school hall. Can’t wait to see everyone dressed up as Rockstars!

We are also looking forward to tomorrow morning’s FUN DAY organised by P5 children to raise funds for our school garden. Tickets are 50p and children can attend during school time – they don’t need parents or family to come, but it would be great if you could!
