P2 Sharing the Learning
The Den Gang have been worried about birds being hungry in this cold weather as they have been discussing how tricky it must be for birds to find food as the ground is frozen and there are no berries left on the bushes. To help the birds, they decided to make bird feeders.

We are delighted to announce that our Swap Shop is now open!
Please come along and browse our items. We suggest a 20p donation per item but this is not essential. Please also feel free to hand in any clothes you have that are looking for a new home!
Deans Primary Clothing Swap Shop
350,000 tonnes, that’s around £140 million, worth of used but still wearable clothing goes to landfill in the UK every year
More than 60% of householders in the UK say they have unwanted clothes and textiles stored in their homes
To help combat this, Deans Primary are starting up their own Clothing Swap Shop. There will be items of clothing for both children and adults available for you to take – we suggest a 20p donation per item but this is not essential. If you have any clothes in good condition your children have grown out of you would like to pass on please hang them up on the rail (we would appreciate if these were washed first).
The swap shop will be located at the front entrance of the school from Tuesday 29th January and will be open every school day.

It’s been another busy old week down in Primary 1 and Primary 2/1.
We have been learning the f sound and been using it to build lots of different words. We have been practising forming the letter using various materials we have found in the classroom, like play doh, buttons and even beans.
We have been working together to build a plan for our work on seasons. We are learning all about Winter. We know lots of things already and have made a map of what we would like to learn next.
Lewis had the great idea of making some winter art. We learned about hot and cold colours and talked about how they made us feel. We used lots of cold colours to paint the landscape and then added bare trees and snow to complete our lovely pictures.
Lucy – I really liked doing my painting because it looked really good at the end.
Kayleigh – I liked using all the different cold colours.
Brendan – I enjoyed tearing the paper to make the snow because I LOVE snow!
Today the British Transport Police visited our school. They talked to us all about their job and how they can help to keep us safe in the community. It was really interesting.
Finlay learned that it was important not to go on the train tracks.
Ethan reported back that if you drop something on the tracks only the police can get it back for you.
Ashley said that if you got lost you can always ask a police officer to help you.
Kayleigh explained that part of the job of the police is to arrest people who steal things. Stealing is bad.
Brendan said that it was important never to touch electricity because we could get electrocuted.
Sophie told us all about the little film clip about staying safe with our parents.
We learned lots of new information.

Our ‘Sharing shed’ will be shut over the holidays so please help yourself to bits and bobs, we don’t want anything left in case it freezes!
Primary 2 have had a fun filled, Christmassy week so far. We have made some lovely chalk pastel Christmas trees where we were learning to blend colours. Our maths lesson was also Christmas themed as we had to add and subtract sums inside mosaic tiles and colour in our answers to create a picture. We also had our P2 Christmas party today and we played lots and lots of games!!
Tomorrow we are going to read “How The Grinch Stole Christmas” and then write a persuasive piece of writing to convince him that Christmas is actually great!
On Friday we are going to create our very own Christmas jumpers and then it will be our Christmas service. Everyone is so excited!!!!
Our choir had a ball performing for the residents of the Leonard Cheshire Foundation in Deans today!
