Quiz time!!

Primary 6 have been using an online resource where the teacher can make up their own quiz based on various subject areas that the pupils can then access on a laptop. This week we have used one to test our times tables knowledge. We really enjoyed this and were able to challenge ourselves! We look forward to using this resource in other curricular areas.

Primary 6 ‘hot’ topic of Kenya!

Primary 6 have been creating some pictures of Zebras from Kenya using hot colours. We looked at the colour wheel of the hot and cold colours and selected which ones we wanted to use for our images. We then created some ‘cold’ coloured elephants. Primary 6 have been very interested in the wildlife of Kenya and we are looking forward to exploring this further.

PE Week Beginning 16th April

In PE this week Primary 1 have been learning ball skills. We rolled sponge balls down our arms and legs and back up over our heads using our fingertips! This was much trickier than it sounds! We were throwing and catching small balls with two hands and challenging ourselves by trying to throw and catch using only one hand. We even tried doing this while walking around the gym hall! We also worked in pairs to practise our throwing and catching.

Primary 2, 2/3, 5, 6, 6/7 and 7 have been learning about athletics. We know that athletics involves running, jumping and throwing events. As we took part in long distance running and sprinting last week it was time for us to have a go at jumping this week. We tried out long jump, high jump and triple jump. We tried each jump without a run up, recorded our distance and then tried again with a run up, we were amazed at the difference having a run up makes! We spoke about the personal and physical qualities needed for athletics events and discussed which events we think we would enjoy most.
