This week Primary 3 have a new topic

We had an exciting reveal about our new topic. A suitcase and a bear with a map arrived in our class. The bear is called Barnaby and we are going to learn about our own country and perhaps some different countries with him. This week, we have been learning about Scotland, and we can now locate it on a world map.

We have started to learn more about money. Today was a non-uniform day and we were collecting coins for charity. (Roman) First, we sorted all our coins and grouped the same kinds together. We had £1’s, 50p’s, 20p’s and 10p’s. Then we added each type of coin up. Last we added all the totals up and we had £11.10 altogether. (Erin)

On Wednesday, we went for a walk outside to the field and we collected some leaves (Gracie). The leaves are falling from the trees now that it is Autumn. When we came inside we wrote acrostic poems about leaves. (Joseph)

P3 Writing

We have been learning to write reports, and this week we decided to write about our recent learning breakfast.

Well done everyone!

A Huge Thank You

P3 would like to thank all the parents and carers who came along to support our Learning Breakfast. We enjoyed sharing pancakes, fruit and juice in the dinner hall. Then we took our visitors to our class where we were sharing how we use online games on Educationcity to help us with our learning.

We all had a great time.

Wizard of Oz Characters

This has been a very short week, but we have been working hard on our Wizard of Oz topic. We made red, sparkly Dorothy shoes and it was fun. (Chloe)

We have discovered an interesting fact about Dorothy’s shoes. Her shoes were silver in the book, but they were red in the movie. (Summer) We have been writing character descriptions of Dorothy, the Tin Man, the Lion and the Scarecrow.

We have made a model Lion and a model Dorothy for the class. We are working on the Scarecrow and the Tin Man.

Follow the Yellow Brick Road in P3

This week we have been reading The Wizard of Oz in class. We have been writing about the story. In art, we have been using a variety of different textures of paper to create some of the characters. We have also started to create large class models of the characters in the story.

Values Day

We have been working all week on our school values. The focus this week has been on the value RESPECT. We are designing a Respect mascot and we have made up actions to the song R-E-S-P-E-C-T.

We had lots of visitors in school Friday for our Values Day. It was great having so many parents and carers visiting our class.

We had lots of fun activities including a values snakes and ladders game, a compliments game, dominoes and design the mascot. We were also challenging ourselves to log onto Educationcity on the laptops.

Welcome to Primary 3

We have had a very busy start to our new school year. We have been learning all about our P3 class and our new friends. We have been playing some getting to know you games. We have drawn pictures of ourselves looking great in our new school uniforms.

This term, PE will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays – shorts, tee-shirts and no earrings on PE days please.

Fun Day

We have had a fantastic time at the fun day. First we had a games challenge in our class. We were working with a partner and had lots of games to try.

Then we went to Zumba outside and we enjoyed beating with the drum sticks best.

Then we moved inside to the inflatable assault course. It was great fun, but very tiring.

P3 Learn to Debug Simple Code

This week in ICT we have been learning simple coding. We have been using instructions to move through a maze. We are also learning how to look carefully at the code and spot mistakes, then fix them. This is called debugging. We have been working with a partner – 2 heads are better than 1 when solving a problem. It is great fun!

When it was warm and sunny, we were challenging ourselves on the trim track.
