Primary 2 – Thursday 26th March

Good Morning Primary 2!

Did you manage to do Joe Wicks P.E. lesson this morning? Here is the link again in case you need it; https://www.youtube.com/user/thebodycoach1

Spelling

Miss Borsbey has typed up some sentences but missed out the tricky words! Can you copy these sentences into your jotter and add in the correct words? Remember your tricky words are: day, away, always, today.

French

Let’s practise our numbers to 20 in French! I have posted the link below to the French number song that we all love in class! Can you go around your home and see how many different numbers to 20 you can find and then say them in French? Look in places like food labels, the TV screen, newspapers, books etc.

I hope you are all well and having a good day!

Good Morning Primary 2!

I hope you are all doing well!

P.E.

During the day today, it would be great if you could try Joe Wicks daily P.E. lessons on youtube! You can find the link below. Joe hosts a live P.E. lesson every morning at 9am that you can join in with, or alternatively, you can join in later on as they are all saved on his YouTube channel. Give today’s P.E. lesson a go with the people in your family – Miss Borsbey is joining in too! Remember to drink plenty of water to stay hydrated!

Science

Work with someone at home to learn the meaning of the terms ‘waterproof’ and ‘not waterproof’. In your blue jotter, write a definition of each term. Once you understand what each of these things means, create 2 lists in your jotter, one titled ‘waterproof’ and one titled ‘not waterproof’. Investigate different objects in your home and write each object under the correct heading. Which list has the most amount of items on it?

Reading

Listen to today’s free reading from David Walliams at the link below. Answer the following questions in your jotters:

  1.  What is your favourite part of the story? Why?
  2.  If you were one of the characters in this story, who would you choose to be and why?
  3.  If you were to change one thing in this story, what would it be?
  4.  Would you recommend this story to a friend? What would you tell them about it?

Hello Primary 2!

Here are a few extra activities that you could try today as well as the work in your packs!

Research different flowers that bloom during Spring. Can you use what we know about different kinds of lines to choose a flower, draw a picture of it and then label the different parts of it? Remember to write down what kind of flower you have chosen!

Have a wonderful day!

Primary 2 Update

Hello Primary 2, I hope you are all safe and well!

You should now all have your packs home which have 3 weeks of learning inside. If you haven’t yet collected your pack, it is available from the office until 3pm today. Please work through the ‘Week 1’ grid this week and tick off each activity as you go.

Remember to read your personal reading books every day and there are lots of games on Education City for you to play under the ‘Classwork’ section.

Please keep your eye on the blog as I will provide you with any updates to learning through this platform.

Stay safe and happy learning!

P2 Trip to Stirling Castle

We had a fantastic time at Stirling Castle on Wednesday!

We got to see statues of lots of different people! We had the chance to try on pieces of armour – they were very heavy! We also had the chance to wear costumes and be different characters!

We saw different people dressed up who were telling us about their jobs in a castle and what it was like to live hundreds of years ago. We were very lucky as one of the actors showed us a real unicorn horn! She taught us that unicorn horns can cure people from poison! We also got to see the  King and Queen’s bedroom!

We started our tour in the Great Hall. The Great Hall is where the King and Queen went to eat. The more important you were, the closer to the King and Queen you got to sit! The Great Hall is also where the Castle staff slept at night time – there would sometimes be over 300 people in the hall sleeping!

We had a brilliant time and learned so much! Ask us about our favourite and least favourite part of our day when you see us!

Primary 2 this week

We have had another busy week in P2!

World Book Day

Thursday was World Book Day! We had the chance to come to school in our pyjamas and bring our favourite book and teddy. Even Iron Man came to visit us! We really enjoyed sharing our books with our friends throughout the day.

At the end of the day, we had the chance to pair up with Primary 4 and share our stories with them. We loved reading each others book and spending time with new people. We even made some new friends!

Maths

We have been learning about money.

Lexie: “Money helps people to pay for things, you need to know how much money to use.”

Mia: “We have a shop in class with food that’s labelled with different prices and we need to get some money to pay for the food.”

Topic

We made a Coat of Arms this week.

Levente: “We drew our favourite things to show we are all different.”

Sarah-Louise: “People used a Coat of Arms to protect themselves so they knew who their enemies were.”

We also had a reply from Stirling Castle about our letters that we sent. We cannot wait to go on our trip next week!

Science

We have been learning about materials.

Ethan: “We had 4 pieces of paper each and used a crayon to do rubbings against different materials.”

Brendan: “Each piece of paper was different because we rubbed it on different materials.”

Particiaption Friday

Today was Participation Friday. During this session, we each designed a coaster to be produced and then sold at the Spring Fayre. Our coasters all feature a message of kindness, and we have been learning how this relates to our school value of nurture. Keep an eye out at the fayre for our fantastic work!

Primary 2

Charlie – “We had to pass a ball and say different materials.”

Ethan – “We went around the classroom to see what was bendy and what was not bendy.”
