In many streets people have started to play instruments too, so the Music Education Partnership Group are challenging musicians to play the song “Somewhere over the rainbow” this Thursday.

Rainbows – family learning fun!

At this challenging time, the world has adopted the rainbow as the symbol of hope.

Using the theme of the rainbow, these learning activities suit a variety of ages. Older children could support learning for their younger siblings, and many of the activities can be used as family learning opportunities.

Let’s start by looking at the rainbow and why it has become the symbol of hope at this time!

Sensory walk

We are very lucky to have had some amazing weather recently and with the days getting longer we can hopefully get out every day for a walk, at some point!

Below is a health and wellbeing sensory walk challenge. It can easily be adapted just by changing colours and objects to be found each day. You will only need a device for taking photos and maybe a notepad for drawings. Enjoy!

Captain Tom inspires a nation!

You may have seen Captain Tom Moore on the news in the past week or so. He has been walking to raise money for the NHS and has raised over 27 million! At almost 100 years old, he is an inspiration to many people and reminds us that we all can play our part in some small way.

Wish jars or boxes

How about making a jar or box, where everyone in your household  can put their wishes, for what they would love to do when we can be out and about again !

My wishes are – go for a walk on the beach, visit my friend for a cuppa, get a Krispy Kreme donut ……

Follow the instructions of how to decorate a jar or just get a box (a tissue box maybe)  and decorate that instead. They only rule is you can’t read them until you can make them come true!!!
