Happiness is ….. (P3, P3/4 and P4 writing )

As always, please complete these tasks when your class teacher asks you to!

Following on from last week when you had the chance to make your lockdown movie for the Sky Academy competition, we are again going to look at interviews.

Firstly, look at my blog post from yesterday all about “Positivity…”

Positivity! (Health and Wellbeing for all pupils)

Can you write a poem called “Happiness is….” based on everything that has made  you happy in the past 9 weeks?

I have attached my own version – could you do yours and illustrate it too?

Happiness is poem

Then find someone at home – or on the phone – to interview about what has made them happy.  You can write this on your script sheet – and if you have time you could film it too!

Have fun and be happy!! (and if you like Disney – check this out!)

Positivity! (Health and Wellbeing for all pupils)

Last week was Mental Health Awareness week ! We all have mental  health in the same way we have our physical health – and both are important at this time!

Focussing on what is Positive right now – in our own lives and our own families is important – but what is Positivity?

Look at the Powerpoint below and have a think and a chat about what it means!

I love that Powerpoint – so much to think about !!

Why don’t you keep a Positivity Diary of your own – at the end of the day think of 3 things that have been the best bits and write them down!

Use this layout to give you ideas – or design your own!

#keepconnected – SKY ACADEMY studios competition

This week’s writing tasks for P3-7 is a competition organised by SKY ACADEMY STUDIOS – with a chance to win FREE FILMING KITS……. (As always, please wait until your class teacher asks you to do this task !)

We’re all living and learning differently right now, so it’s important to #keepconnected.

Sky Academy Studios is challenging pupils to create a video to tell us their lockdown story and share how they’re feeling during the Coronavirus pandemic.

https://www.skyacademystudios.com/keepconnected

How does it work?

Write, shoot and share your own story!!

Students will create short videos (30 seconds – 2 minutes) bringing their ideas to life.

Using tech they can access at home, and the current lockdown as inspiration, students can tell their stories.

This provides a creative way to help them feel connected and stay positive during these challenging times.

Using creativity and communication their stories can be:

  • FACTUAL: News Report or Vlog
  • FICTIONAL: Creative stories

It is your choice P3-7, whether you do a Vlog type factual piece or a fictional creative story – you can work together with your siblings and/ or other family members to complete the task.

Please click on the link above, watch the video and use the 10 Top Tips below to help you!

National Photo competition – “HOLD STILL” – a moment in time

https://www.npg.org.uk/hold-still/

Spearheaded by The Duchess of Cambridge, Patron of the National Portrait Gallery, Hold Still, a portrait of our nation in 2020, is an ambitious community project to create a unique photographic portrait which captures the spirit, mood, hopes, fears and feelings of the nation as we continue to deal with the Coronavirus outbreak.

Whilst many people’s lives are on hold to help protect our helpers and heroes, there are some that are working harder than ever, and others that are enduring the upheaval of hardship and loss. Hold Still will capture a snapshot of the people of the UK at this time, creating a collective portrait of our nation which will reflect resilience and bravery, humour and sadness, creativity and kindness, human tragedy and hope as we hold still for the good of others, and celebrate those who have continued so we can stay safe.

The Duchess and the National Portrait Gallery invite you to submit your own photographic portrait, taken during these extraordinary times, which responds to one of the following themes:

  • Helpers and Heroes
  • Your New Normal
  • Acts of Kindness

One hundred shortlisted portraits will feature in a virtual exhibition on the Gallery’s website and a selection of images will also be shown across the UK later in the year.

The project is completely free and open to all ages and abilities. Images must involve people, and can be captured on phones or cameras. Each image will be assessed on the emotion and experience it conveys rather than its photographic quality or technical expertise. The closing date for submissions is the 18 June 2020.

I love taking photos, and maybe you already have that special portrait of someone in your family or a selfie, that captures this moment in time?

Worries!

Have you heard the story “The huge bag of worries” ?

I like it because it reminds us that lots of people have worries and the more you think about them and carry them around in your mind, it is like carrying a bag that gets heavier and heavier until it’s just too much to carry!

Watch the video to find out what to do if you feel this way too!

This is a nice idea you might like to try – to doodle away your worries!
