What Have P6 Been Up To This Week?

Literacy

Group reading – We summarized what we had read so far with our partner and then read on. We discussed any unknown words using various reading strategies.

Writing – We read through an example of an information text (how to treat a snake bite.) Then we acted out the treatment on a willing victim! Next we designed our own procedural/instructional writing based on a topic of our choice. Some of us focused on gaming and others on making sandwiches and other recipes. When we had finished we read them aloud to the class to see if our instructions made sense. This was great fun!

Numeracy

We revised fractions of shapes – mixed numbers and improper fractions. We also practised finding fractions of amounts and revised equivalent fractions.

Coding

We wrote block code using 3 different elements and linked this in to the Queen’s Jubilee.

Health

P.E.

We practised our cricketing skills. There was some excellent bowling, batting and catching demonstrated!

We also played rounders in the hall on Wednesday.

Careers Day

On Thursday we were able to interview and talk to various people representing different professions. There were scientists, artists, teachers, joiners, theatre producers and a prison warden to name but a few. We had previously written questions we had wanted to ask and so were thoroughly prepared. It was a great success.

Changing Me

We talked about how a baby is made and how a baby develops in the womb.

Finally we found out who our new teacher is going to be next year. We are delighted that we are staying together as a class and our new teacher is Mrs Moyes. We are going to be wonderful P7s!
