Weekly Update From Primary One

Welcome to this weeks blog. Some of our highlights to share with you.

Outdoor Learning

During this weeks outdoor learning, the children wrote a fantastic collaborative Spring Poem using their senses-

Classroom Garden Centre

This week, in our class garden centre we have been looking at different  life-cyles. Firstly we tracked the life cycle of a bean, (we planted beans last week and are patiently waiting for shoots to appear) some pictures below-

Then we looked at the life cycle of an apple blossom tree. We planted some apple seeds and are hoping that they grow so that, we can transfer them into pots for the children to take home and plant in their own gardens.

The children then went onto create their own apple blossom tree life cycle diagram.

Writing – My Bedroom

This week we continued with our descriptive writing block. The children had to describe their bedroom, where in the house it was, how many beds, what was in the room and what they enjoyed doing there, Some super examples below-

As the weather has been amazing this week, the children have enjoyed some outdoor numeracy as well has spending time on the trim track. A great time had by all.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend. I will be back next week with more updates.

What have P6 been up to this week?

Topic

Jaxson – I enjoyed drawing a WW2 soldier and his equipment.

Silence Day in aid of Ukraine

Well despite everyone thinking we would never manage it…we did! There was the odd blip. (Miss Stanway was the first to forget.)

Anton – I was surprised at how much money we raised.

(So far £71). Thanks so much for your generous donations.

Hope – It was hard but we remembered why we were doing it.

It helped that we spent some time outside drawing and going on the trim track even though we could only communicate on our whiteboards.

We even practised some BSL (British Sign Language). Our favourite sign was for hometime…it was a tough day!

Literacy

On Monday it was National Poetry Day. We listened to a poem and then wrote poems of our own.

Science

Robbie – I enjoyed the water cycle song.
