Literacy
In reading this week, we were using our skimming and scanning skills when answering questions about a passage. We had to pick out the key word in the question and then we would skim read for that word in the text.
In writing this week, we continued to develop our recount reading skills. We had to read our feedback from last week and try and up-level our writing. This week, we were writing a recount of our experiment about absorbance.
Maths and Numeracy
In numeracy this week, we were learning about less than, equal to and greater than. To help remember the correct symbols, we had to think of a crocodile and the crocodile always eats the largest number.
In maths, we were learning about 2d and 3d shapes. We also had a STEM shape challenge. Working with a partner, we hard to create shapes using cocktail sticks and Playdoh.
IDL
In science, we were learning about absorbance. When a material is absorbent, it soaks up liquid. We were given 4 materials and we had to put the same volume of water in each. Before the experiment, we had to write a hypothesis, predicting the material that would absorb the largest amount of water. Working in groups, we had to collaborate and record what was happening during our experiment.
