This Week in P3

In Primary 3 we have had a fantastic start to the year! We have enjoyed seeing our friends and hearing about how we spent our summer holidays.

We were practicing our tricky words and playing with some of our literacy games. During our story, we made predictions at the beginning and different points throughout the story.

In numeracy, we had an introduction to our place value topic. We were learning about ones and tens. We were using dienes materials to represent the number provided to us by our partners and we had to peer-assess one another’s work.

In science we learning about materials. This week, we learning about the properties of materials. We were given different materials and discussed their properties as we identified there similarities and differences. When we were discussing the properties of the materials, we had to use the correct scientific vocabulary.

Back to School Update from Primary 4/3

The summer holidays have come to an end and it is time to dust off the school bags and pencil cases and get ready for a new term in a brand new class. How exciting!

Primary 4/3 has had a very busy first week back of term. We are excited to begin our learning journey this year and continue to develop all the skills we are passionate about.

Thankfully a lot of the past Covid restrictions have been lifted and we are beginning to return to some degree of normality. We talked about the continued importance of good hand hygiene and had a competition to design a poster for the classroom. We made a fabulous effort. We agreed that all of our posters should be –

  • Bright and colourful to make them eye catching
  • Provide some information on why hand washing is important which is easy to read
  • Have detailed illustrations
  • Have a catchy slogan

Here are some examples of our wonderful work.

We have begun to read our new class novel ‘The Boy Who Grew Dragons’ by Andy Shepherd.

We made some predictions based on the title, front cover and the blurb. We think this is going to be a really interesting read and are very curious to discover how to grow a dragon! This got us talking about things we would like to be able to grow. We designed our own front cover and changed the title to what we would grow instead!

Finally another highlight of our first week has been creating some colourful art for our classroom. We have decided to make a ‘Wall of Fame’ to display work we are proud of and have started drawing our own self portraits to accompany our chosen pieces of work. The care and attention to detail in all of these portraits has been fabulous.  Check them out!

We hope you have enjoyed a little snapshot of our first week in Primary 4/3.

P4 Class!

We had a great week getting to know each other.  We played lots of games to help us get to know our teacher and our new class.

We also began to read our class novel and made predictions on what might happen next.  We worked together to create our class charter too.   Overall, our week has been fantastic!

SW- I enjoyed my first week in school because we did lots of art!  I liked doing the addition and subtraction emojis.

Welcome from Primary 2/1

Kids Welcome Sign with Light Blue Background and Rainbow Letters | Light blue background, Fun signs, Blue backgrounds

Hello and welcome to our blog! We have had such a busy and fun first week in Primary 2/1!

Our primary 2s and some of our primary 1s have been showing off what they already know about numbers and dot patterns through playing different games.

Some of our primary 2s have been revising their knowledge of basic CVC words through board games!

Whilst the primary 2s were doing some jobs with Mrs Morrison, the primary 1s began learning about the start, middle and end. We had to circle which animal was in each position in the feeding queue, and which person was in each position in the bus queue. This will help us when we start reading and writing words.

The primary 1s have also had a chance to spend lots of time with their buddies this week! The P7 buddies have been so helpful when getting ready for break, having our lunch and also spending time out in the playground.

We cannot wait to get stuck in to more learning next week!

Where possible, please ensure ALL of your child’s belongings are labelled. We have a pile of jumpers, shoes and jackets beginning to form and it can be very difficult to match these back with the children without name labels. Thank you!
