Chalk messages…

As we come to the end of a busy day of learning here is a nice idea for later-

If you have a garden space or area in front of where you stay, use chalk to draw or write positive message for  all  to see. Families going for walks may enjoy reading them and your neighbours may be inspired when they look out their windows!

Primary One update.

Good morning everyone, I hope you are all safe and well. I was in school yesterday and took a picture of the Three Little Pigs display (it’s a work in progress, hopefully we will get to finish it at some point). Last week the children worked with primary 7 buddies to create the 3 pigs houses. The children worked well together displaying good communication and problem solving skills.

I hope you have began some of the week one activities from your pack and are enjoying this new temporary way of learning. Just a few extra activities for your to try.

Teach your family the Days of the week song.

You could ask your child questions such as what day was it yesterday, what day will it be tomorrow? Also learn the months of the year song.

You could make a yearly calendar detailing family birthdays and special occasions. It would also be helpful to look at one month of the year and be able to identify e.g. the first Monday in March is the 2nd, what date is the third Friday? etc.

In the class we have been working on double numbers e.g. 3+3 etc. to extend our learning children have been trying to use this knowledge to answer near double questions e.g. we know 3+3 =6 so the answer to  3+4 must be one more. Have a go, challenge yourself with double and near double numbers to 10.

Hello Primary 3!!

Good morning everyone!

Hope we are all staying safe and keeping well. At least we have some sunny weather to look out on!

Here are some other activities you may wish to try out:

-Write a diary entry each day to say what you have been doing.

-Create a Time Capsule – include information on you and your family, information about your friends, a newspaper clipping if you can (or print one off), a photo of you and your family, and write down your hopes and wishes for the future. Hide it in your attic or ask an adult where else you could put it for now. If you Google ‘Time Capsule for kids’ it gives you some nice examples.

-Practise the days of the week in French (see the link to the song below). Make some cards with the days in English and then in French. Create your own matching game to play with someone at home.

-Make a clock at home – use this to test yourself and your family on different times.

Have fun and stay safe!

Primary 2 – Tuesday 24th March

Hello Primary 2!

Here are a few extra activities that you could try today as well as the work in your packs!

Writing

Have a look at this picture below. Can you use this picture as a setting for an imaginative story? Your story can be about anything you wish but remember it must have capital letters, full stops, finger spaces and adjectives in it. Use your blue jotters to write your imaginative story!

Numeracy

Use the following link that will take you to a random number generator. In the boxes, enter “between 1 and 20.” Click the “Generate number” button twice and add together the two numbers that have been generated. What is the biggest number you can make?

Art

Research different flowers that bloom during Spring. Can you use what we know about different kinds of lines to choose a flower, draw a picture of it and then label the different parts of it? Remember to write down what kind of flower you have chosen!

Have a wonderful day!

Good Morning Primary 1/2

Good Morning Everybody!

I hope everybody is safe, well and enjoying some precious time at home with your families. You should hopefully have got your work pack at home and can start working your way through some of the week 1 activities. Remember you can also use your purple jotters for any writing, drawing or numeracy that you would like to practise and your education city passwords/usernames are stuck into the inside cover.

I will start putting some extra little activities up and will be saying hello most days so be sure to keep checking our blog. Here’s one to get you started.

We have recently been learning all about time… can you practise reciting the days of the week in order? You could have a go at writing them out, cutting them up and putting back in order using your jotters for this. Here is a link to the song we use in class to help you.

If you fancy a little challenge, have a go in French!

Have a good day everybody and stay safe!

Mrs Stevenson
