It’s been such an exciting week down in Primary 1 and 2/1.
We were so so lucky to meet a real life author. Her name was Regina Nurney and her book was called ‘The Ladybird who Found her Spots’. She read us her super story and we were able to ask her lots of interesting questions.
Sophie – It was nice to meet a real author, she was able to share her book.
Levente would like to say thank you to Regina, I loved the book.
We had a go at being authors and illustrators too! We designed our own bugs and wrote a story to go with our illustrations.
Sophie wrote a fantastic story about her bug giving piggy back rides and living in a rose house. Sophie was ‘mega’ happy with her story about Poppy the bug.
Brendan and Tyler also did a wonderful job with their stories. Brendan loved drawing the bug and would love to be an illustrator one day. Tyler loved the spider he drew because it was nice and tall and would never get stood on.
Lexie has been working hard using the sentence logs to practise her writing skills. We are so glad you love school Lexie.
Our sound this week has been ‘v’. We have made v volcanoes to help us remember the letter shape. We finger painted using hot colours to represent the lava, it was great but messy fun!
Mark – it was fun using our fingers and I loved feeling the paint – it was soft and gooey.
Aayan – I liked that it looked like fire and lava!!
Primary 2/1 have been lucky to have Mr Paterson working in our classroom. He has been busy helping the P2’s with their numeracy skills. Rihanna had the challenge of giving Mr Paterson a number talk using a pattern of 20 dots and then making the calculation to go with it. Mr Paterson did a good job – thumbs up from us!
Primary 1 have been working hard matching numerals to number words. Brendan and Nathaniel did a great job at busy start with this task and were very quick and confident to complete their job.
Lucy brought her very own Nessie in to share with the class. She just loved the tartan – well done Lucy for sharing your learning at home with Gran.
We have been very lucky to have been able to turn our cloakroom into a creative construction area. We have been using our imagination to build roads and towers. We have been using our teamwork skills to help each other and to solve problems.
Tyller made a ‘danger track’ where you need to watch out for tricky obstacles for spikes and floating objects which could harm you!!!
Sarah-Louise was very proud of her tower, she used big blocks at the bottoms and smaller ones at the top! She did a great job balancing her tower so it was steady and secure.
Tadas was working together with Elkie to build a race track. They were working on making it really tricky for cars. Elkie made the cars for the track. Well done on such great teamwork.
We have been investigating loose parts in our classrooms. This week we created a forest using all sorts of different materials including logs, cones, corks and pebbles. We even wrote the word forest using our letter logs. We made up lots of stories to retell using finger puppets. It was so much fun.
Lewis, Chloe and Kullyn have been making a big giant forest. Lewis loved it and was so keen to practise making words out the letter logs too.
