Minecraft in class????
As part of Primary 5’s work on the Scottish Parliament, they took part in a heated debate. Â There was a Proposing team, an Opposing team, a Chair person and an audience who voted. Â Pupils researched both in school and at home evidence to back up their arguments. Â The topic – should Minecraft be used in class?
After both teams had made fantastic, well informed points we went to a vote. Â The results overwhelmingly showed that Minecraft should not be used in class.
Well done Primary 5
P3/2 – Dinosaur Fossils
In Term 3 Primary 3/2 have been learning about dinosaurs. Â This week we have been looking at dinosaur fossils, what they are and how they are made. Â To develop our understanding of this we recreated how fossils can be made by layering slices of bread (to represent soil, sand, rocks, etc) one of top of the other and inserting a dinosaur shape. We then squashed down each layer as it was put on to show the pressure that layering of soil could do. Â We carefully took off each slice and found our fossil shape at the bottom.
P3/2 – Dinosuars
People who help us by p1
For the last few weeks, primary 1 have been visited by a number of people talking about their jobs. First we met Mrs Hepburn who is a dental nurse and she told us all about how to look after our teeth and what her job involves. It was so interesting! The week after we had a visit from Chloe’s mum who is a paramedic. She and another paramedic showed us all the different tools they use, took some of our heart beats and let us try on some of their outfits. They even brought in an ambulance! It was so much fun and we found out loads!
We were then lucky enough to have a visit from Oliver’s dad who is a policeman. He came in and told us about his job as part of the traffic police. It was amazing to hear about what he does and see the flashing lights on the car!
Last week we had a visit from Ethan’s mum who is a radiographer. It was so cool to see all the bones on some of the x-rays she brought along! It is so clever that a big camera can see through your skin and into your bones! We learned we have 206 bones in our body! WOW!
Thank you all so much for giving us some of your time! We really appreciate it! From P1a and p1b.
